All I'm saying is, I wish that people (politicians, the media, the general public) were as worked up about underfunded schools, classes being cancelled due to lack of a teacher, school repairs, mental health supports, and clean air, as they are about cellphones. 🤷🏿‍♂️ #OntEd

@DrBradJohnson I did that when I was a principal. Random sticky notes on their laptop. Now that I am retired and working with student interns, I leave a sticky that highlights one thing that was a wow during my observation.

Principals, stock up on Post-it notes this fall! When you visit classrooms, leave a post-it note on their desk telling them how lucky their students are to have them & share something you learned or enjoyed about the visit. I call them "Post-its of Praise"

@ZBauermaster @Antonettemiglio A great thing to do. Nothing like the power of a handwritten note. When I retired one of my staff showed me her collection of every note I had written to her over 13 years!

One of my favorite traditions as a principal is walking the quiet hallways the night before school starts to put a handwritten note on every teacher’s desk.

@flyingmonkey13 @WelweteenWabbit I meant all mandated PD that has to be done before opening including safe schools and operational "administrivia". Glad to be retired. My last night before the first staff meeting was always a challenge

@WelweteenWabbit @MagHill_Nick It must differ by district. Our safe schools training has its own day.

I struggle this time of year. I read the comments. I know people hate ice breakers and games and chart paper. And, also, I know there are certain things that need to be shared and said and done. Trying to find the balance of must do’s and may do’s…this is what I lose sleep over.

@MsPinkBehavior @flyingmonkey13 Agree 100%. Sometimes we have to present material that is not an effective use of time. We all have to be kind to one another.
