@nsandihelp Your very clever bot when answering the phone, on being asked to transfer the caller to a human, promises to do so and then... cuts them off. Three times in a row. Please supply an email address we can use instead.

You're not answering the phone there. I got a text saying gym floor closed for boiler removal - does this mean the pool is also out of action? Can't reply to text. Should I send a carrier pigeon to communicate with you?

Terms and conditions. Okay no one likes them. No one likes drafting them. But they're like a condom. It's for your benefit too. Stop complaining.

I now have 2,870 followers on this site, several hundred fewer than I used to have, no doubt because I'm not posting much any more. If you're not a pornbot and you want to see what I think or my dreadful puns, find me (and follow me) on @maggotlaw.bsky.social.

@EvansTheCrime Dickens (in Doctors' Commons) would have used foolscap, I dare say. With a sharp quill and an ink well.

Career announcement: With the start of a new year I’m pleased to say I’m switching from traditional A5 notepads to A4 for my court #shorthand notes. This is not a decision I’ve taken lightly but after balancing the aggravating and mitigating factors, I’m sure it’s the right move.

The booming business of special needs education in England via @FT - which now, I suppose, has to charge VAT on top of whatever cash-strapped councils are already paying? Or was that happening already? on.ft.com/4gEbxAj

@MouseInTheCourt Very rarely is a real explanation given from what I can see. BBC breaching a s.45 youth anonymity order in 2020, just said “serious error”, staff to get re-training. Publishing footage of MS teams hearing 2021, said “catalogue of serious errors” Hardly illuminating 🤷🏻‍♂️

@SeethingMead You need a 'raft' of new regulations, which a 'landmark' court decision will apply in a routine and entirely unremarkable way.

I’d like to know how many constitute a ‘spate’? More than a brace obviously…fewer than a plethora?

From early next year, journalists will be allowed to ask for permission to report on family court cases across England and Wales. Journalist Louise Tickle, who’s campaigned for the change, tells us why it’s so important.
