The only advantage #RankedChoiceVoting has over #STARVoting is that more people already know about it. STAR doesn’t have center squeeze spoiler effect, has faster tabulation, is more expressive, ballots never get exhausted, and ballots can’t be invalidated by incorrect filling.

STAR voting ballot referendum is coming to Eugene, Oregon in May 2024 🗳️ Adopting different voting methods in different cities or states gives us data on how to end the ‘spoiler’ argument for good, and it’s great for restoring real competition to our elections. STAR asks voters to rate each candidate between 0-5 stars, whereas ranked-choice voting has voters rank candidates, approval voting has voters select each candidate they approve of, and none-of-the-above voting provides a NOTA option.

Voters in Eugene, Oregon, will decide on an initiative to adopt a new electoral system, STAR voting, on May 21, 2024. STAR is an acronym for Score-Then-Automatic-Runoff. If approved, Eugene, Oregon, would be the first jurisdiction to adopt STAR voting. Learn about STAR voting:
