Gen (rtd) @otafiire_k is the new Minister of Water and Environment. He replaces Sam Mangusho Cheptoris who quit the Kapchorwa Municipality legislative race ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections. Gen Otafiire has been replaced by another veteran politician, Prof Ephraim Kamuntu whom Mr @KagutaMuseveni has named as the Minister of Internal Affairs in his 2026-2031 Cabinet. The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Uganda handles crucial state functions like immigration, passport issuance, national identification, and NGO regulation, among others. The Ministry also directly oversees the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda Prisons Service. Now you know! #MonitorUpdates

@Mahadbarya @goodhe4rted And somehow, the majority have ended up learning Luganda bcz it’s the closest and probably easiest to adopt and is mostly seen as the language for those that want to survive anywhere in the country esp to those without any connections and are in business.

When we came into government, I proposed teaching Lunyankole, Lukiga, Lutoro and Luganda in the East and North, then teaching Ateso and Luo in the South so that we could understand each other across the whole country. People didn’t take it seriously. But Kahinda, when it comes to Luganda, sounds more jealous and hateful

I don't care about what everyone says. It's mental illness for Africans to have fan clubs of European countries. It gives me secondhand embarrassment seeing Africans prioritize European football over locals. Let's take examples from South Africans.

I don't support conman Magogo but what does PLU have to do with Uganda's football?
NTV UGANDA@ntvuganda

Yes, @MosesMagogo was advised to step down from his position as FUFA President by PLU, following an ongoing corruption probe, and he said he would consider it. If he is eventually pushed out, the key question is how the transition would be managed under CAF and FIFA regulations. Only time will tell. ~ @CliveKyazze #NTVSportKnights

I have seen mixed reactions from a section of the public regarding my decision to nominate the Mawogola North MP Aine Sodo Kaguta. I understand the backlash and I absorb it in good faith. But well here is why I did so; my move was sarcastic and intended to address the issue of nepotism which has largely characterized the NRM regime. A single family has dominated all the arms of government (cabinet, judiciary and executive) and they now decide how these other arms should be constituted. They have demonstrated that they can decide who becomes Speaker or Chief Justice yet these two arms of government are meant to be autonomous. It is against this background that I decided that Hon. Sodo, a member of the ‘First family’ equally takes up the position of the Deputy Speaker since their family lust for authority and power is insatiable. To comrades who have not understood my move, please be guided that this was entirely sarcastic and that can be judged from the diction that I used to drive my point. Thank you! #PeoplePowerOurPower

Chief Justice Flavian Zeija has set a troubling tone for the 12th Parliament, marked by disregard for procedural inquiry, overreach/arrogance by the presiding officer, and limited space for meaningful debate. SAD

After seeing Hon. Rebecca Kadaga’s post about what she called a “dragging party” for the newly elected Speaker of Parliament of Uganda Rt Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth, I decided to research more about the practice. This is what I was able to find out. Dragging a newly elected Speaker of Parliament to their chair is actually a symbolic parliamentary tradition derived from the British Westminster system. The ritual represents the Speaker’s initial reluctance to accept the position. Historically, the Speaker’s role was risky because they were responsible for delivering Parliament’s messages and complaints to the King or Queen. If the monarch disliked the message, the Speaker could face severe punishment, sometimes even death. Because of this, newly elected Speakers would traditionally pretend to resist the appointment and be physically “dragged” to the chair by fellow lawmakers to show they were accepting the role under pressure rather than volunteering for it. Today, the practice is purely ceremonial and serves as a lighthearted tribute to that history. Once elected, the Speaker is gently escorted or symbolically dragged to the Chair by fellow legislators to officially assume office.

If Rubio knew the history or architecture, he wouldn't have posed for a picture here. This monument was built out for the love of emperor's Iranian wife, crafted by the genius of Iranian architects — meanwhile his government today threatens to wipe out Iranian civilization, insulting other civilizations.

The current Chief Justice, Flavian Zeija, comes across as rude and arrogant in his conduct. One can’t help but wonder where such authority comes from, is it the Constitution, or something else?
