I paid tribute to the warriors who fell defending and liberating the village of Moshchun. It is both important and right to honour the heroes who protected the Kyiv region and our entire state. We remember and will always be grateful to our warriors for their heroism and bravery. They achieved the most important thing – they gave our children the chance to live in a free Ukraine. We continue the fight to ensure that this war ends justly.

Trump tried to stop solar and wind in the US 🇺🇸. He failed spectacularly. 99,2% of new net capacity in America in 2026 is expected to be renewables, with battery capacity. If this happens solar, wind, hydro and other renewables will be equal to natural gas as the biggest source of electricity in the US. Far ahead of coal or any other source. Solar capacity grew 34% last year. Battery storage added 50%. Coal production declined substantially. All renewables combined are now 26% of US electricity. And what state is leading the charge?? Texas - a deep Republican state. So much for Trump. He can speak and act against renewables. He can not uninvent solar panels or wind blades. We remain resolute.
This morning in the Mediterranean, the French Navy intercepted and boarded another vessel from the shadow fleet, the Deyna.
The war involving Iran will not deflect France from its support for Ukraine, where Russia’s war of aggression continues unabated.
These vessels, which evade international sanctions and violate the law of the sea, are profiteers of war. They line their pockets while helping finance Russia’s war effort.
We will not allow it.

Investment in CSIRO has been declining in real terms for decades.
The result is shocking - recent cuts mean there have been more job losses under the Albanese govt than under Abbott, and key capabilities like climate modelling are being reduced.
Funding in MYEFO was welcome, but temporary.
The upcoming budget is the real test. It must deliver long-term investment to rebuild national science capability.

I asked the Treasurer for this in Question Time last week.
Woodside and Santos are set to make massive profits from our oil and gas internationally, while Australians are struggling to afford petrol, gas, diesel, and electricity.
We have to immediately change our tax settings to support Australians and get a fair return on our finite national resources.
