@PhilipsTruthTM @PeterMcCormack @realninawysocka She was given the opportunity! And then she took a shit with her clothes on and was ousted by popular demand 49 days later. 49 days, coincidentally, is the average amount of time a middle aged woman takes to complete a full skin renewal cycle.

@JesusSavesUs777 @AgainstAtheismX Andy Whelan took a photo of his 4 year old daughter every day in the final agonising weeks of her battle with a terminal neuroblastoma. Confirming that the all knowing, all powerful and all loving god of Christian scripture is a BS fairy story.

If you don't think it's democratic that 33.7% of votes should give a party nearly 64% of the seats in Parliament, then please, sign and share as much as you can. Currently, your vote can be wasted, it can be ignored. Get your voice heard. Equality for all. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7280…

@MarkCha75305548 @_Science_FTW_ @SoCalBobbyDeez @ThinkingAtheist That doesn’t support your point. Plenty of instincts are easily overcome. We overcome your survival instincts when we go on a rollercoaster. I overcome my procreation instincts by not sleeping with my wife’s step-sister, even though she’s as hot as hell and plainly up for it.

@MarkCha75305548 @_Science_FTW_ @SoCalBobbyDeez @ThinkingAtheist Humans don’t naturally kill each other. The overwhelming majority of humans are repelled by the idea of taking another human life. Similar to how we feel about sleeping with a rotting corpse. The exception to that is war where a person is put into a kill or be killed situation.

@ManAlive85 @_Science_FTW_ @SoCalBobbyDeez @ThinkingAtheist You're saying morality is just a natural survival mechanism, I'm pointing out that humans naturally kill each other. And that's just one example. When you think it through, I don't think "natural" works at all for morality.

@MarkCha75305548 @_Science_FTW_ @SoCalBobbyDeez @ThinkingAtheist No, exactly, it was morally wrong to kill that young man because it hampered reproductive success. My point is that morality is a learned and inherited framework of values that we have developed in order to increase reproductive success, mostly through building social cohesion.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus You have failed to give an example of a moral tenet that serves a purpose other than increasing reproductive success. You have also failed to illustrate why cultures who have no knowledge of your god follow broadly indistinguishable moral frameworks to your own.

@ManAlive85 @z8000783 @darwintojesus Your position is just that humans evolve to behave in such ways (what is), and conflating that for how humans should behave (ought). Hence your position is guilty of an is-ought fallacy. If you disagree, I'd like you to explain what you think the "is-ought fallacy" is.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus Show me where have I made a single statement about how humans should behave? My position (for the 4th time) is that humans evolve to behave in certain ways in order to increase reproductive success. There is no ought.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus No, it isn’t. Either you haven’t understood what I have clearly and repeatedly said or you don’t understand what an is-ought fallacy is. Either way, you’re plainly not going to concede and I’m getting pretty bored of you trying to find threads to pull in my argument.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus I did, you must have failed to understand. Morality is a PRODUCT of evolution and evolution is driven exclusively by increasing reproductive success. Evolution isn’t SUBJECT to moral judgement - life on earth will fundamentally always adapt to increase reproductive success.
Rich@ManAlive85

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus I don’t make any judgements about the right or wrongs of increasing human reproductive success. It’s not a moral issue. My point is that evolution is driven only by increasing reproductive success and morality is primarily a product of human evolution.

@MarkCha75305548 @_Science_FTW_ @SoCalBobbyDeez @ThinkingAtheist Okay, I’ll be more specific. Can you give me an example of anything that is considered morally ‘good’ that doesn’t further social cohesion and increase reproductive success? Or, if you prefer, the inverse question. Your choice.

Rich@ManAlive85·
@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus That’s because it’s only you who seems to require a “grounding” of morality. Morality it is a system of learned and inherited responses, nothing more. You asked me for an account of morality without the need of a god. And you got one.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus What you have failed to account for is why, if your moral framework is dictated by the Christian god, it is broadly indistinguishable from the moral code of a Sikh or a Buddhist or a 3rd century BC Roman.

@ManAlive85 @z8000783 @darwintojesus Human reproductive success was said to be the ground or basis of morality though. You then have failed to account for why any behaviors would be obligatory, or how there could be such a thing as human rights, how humans ought to be treated.

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus Human reproductive success is the reason human morality exists. Why do you keep using the term obligatory? There’s nothing obligatory about morality or human behaviour. Human rights are a code of ethics informed by shared moral frameworks.

@ManAlive85 @z8000783 @darwintojesus Evolution doesn't have concerns because it is not a personal being. So, why think that reproductive success and social cohesion is good? Why not think extinction of the human race is good?

@Un_B_Weavable @z8000783 @darwintojesus Of course it’s relevant!! The reason you can’t answer is because human morality is ALWAYS linked to increasing reproductive success through social cohesion. Evolution is concerned exclusively with increasing reproductive success. Morality is a product of evolution.

@ManAlive85 @z8000783 @darwintojesus That's not a relevant demand if I claim morality is grounded in God. Now can you explain why it is morally good to further social cohesion and reproductive success?
