Why are BJP folks behaving as if they’ve just achieved independence from the British in West Bengal?

I'm not a keen follower of politics in Tamil Nadu, but can someone explain why the DMK was booted out in the fashion it was? As an outsider TN looks to be in good shape. High PCI, low unemployment, reasonable L&O. What happened?

BJP has, to a large extent, successfully spread the narrative across the country that the Congress is anti-Hindu and anti-national. Many Hindus seem to believe this and therefore do not vote for Congress. To be honest, Congress has not really done much to win back those votes. The same Congress that fought for India’s independence is now even being called anti-national, and it has not been able to effectively counter this narrative. I hope Congress becomes more aware and takes action now.

@TARUNspeakss Have you even been to Bengal. Open your eyes and look around. Bengal looks like UP MP of the 1980s. And if you compare to AP TN or Punjab the we have to go back another 2 decades.

Okay, genuinely asking, what’s it that BJP would bring to Bengal which TMC couldn’t? I am asking in terms of development. If BJP has such a “magic wand”, why can’t it develop UP, MP, Bihar with it?? Genuinely want to know.

Interesting to see people indulge in usual election analyses for Assam and West Bengal as if anything about this election was usual. Muslim voters were actively disenfranchised by the state, and many went along with it because they didn’t mind the anti-Muslim hijack.

We are likely to have harder times in India (economically speaking). The politicians have figured out the magic formula of winning elections -- even with negative economic progress. Economy, jobs, living standards used to be the focal point of elections. Now, no more. There is no political pressure anymore to pursue good economics. Honestly, not many would bother even if we have de-facto direct taxation at 50%. You can come cry on Twitter. And, go away :) Poor economics= few opportunities= fewer jobs= lower wealth. The writing is there on the wall. The sooner you see it, the sooner you can rework your investment strategies.

After the dust has settled do remember that one of the world’s biggest and richest political parties did every thing it possibly could to fight an election in West Bengal against one woman. They didn’t want to merely defeat her party, they wanted to decimate her political presence altogether. When you think about this, remember the local BJP party apparatus in West Bengal was not very organized as compared to the TMC. This is where the SIR deletions definitely have helped if the goal was not merely winning, but decisively trouncing the incumbent leader. They used the EC and SIR, their boilerplate communal campaigning, loads of gender-specific toxicity against Mamata to defeat her. But think about it. They needed to do all this to defeat one woman. Just one woman. To me this says a lot. It tells me women politicians are perceived as a real threat. It also tells me that unlike a lot of other parties, BJP knows its weaknesses and plans ahead on how to overcome them by looking for solutions outside of the rules of the game. I think opposition parties need to pull up their socks. I’m saying it now. 2029 will go the BJP way if opposition parties don’t get smarter and more tactical.

Those who deleted 90 lakh voters, who moved in 2.5 lakh para military forces to intimidate a political party, who used the CRPF to hit a senior woman leader @MamataOfficial , who brutally attacked counting agents, who brought in Singham cops to threaten citizens are suddenly in a lather about the “Constitution” because a fiery leader says she won’t meekly go to Raj Bhavan to put in papers? Where was their shrill “constitutional” outrage when they were conducting the worst most unfair election in the history of post Independence India? The worthies expect grovelling . Let them fume instead.

THE 'COSTLY' SPECTACLE OF DEMOCRACY: A ₹1.6 LAKH SALARY AND ₹1,000 CRORE EXPENSES? 🚨 ARE WE ELECTING A PUBLIC SERVANT OR A MONARCH WHOSE EVERY STEP IS FUNDED BY BURNING THE HARD-EARNED MONEY OF THE MASSES? THE FIGURES INVOLVED ARE ENOUGH TO MAKE ANY TAXPAYER’S HEART SINK. THE FULL LEDGER OF THIS 'ROYAL' SYSTEM 1️⃣ INDIRA GANDHI LOST HER SEAT THEN; WHY THE SILENCE TODAY? In 1975, the Allahabad High Court annulled Indira Gandhi’s election because she used a single government official and a few state resources for her campaign. 👉 TODAY’S REALITY: MORE THAN ₹1,000 CRORE IS SPENT ANNUALLY ON THE PM’S SECURITY (Z+), TRAVEL, AND STAFF. 👉 THE QUESTION: IS THIS ENTIRE ELABORATE SETUP STRICTLY FOR "GOVERNMENT WORK"? WHEN SAHEB REMAINS IN ELECTION MODE 365 DAYS A YEAR AND USES THIS SAME "GOVERNMENT MACHINERY" FOR EVERY RALLY, DOES THIS NOT FALL UNDER THE CATEGORY OF 'CORRUPT PRACTICE'? 2️⃣ THE MAZE OF NUMBERS: ₹1.6 LAKH VS. ₹1,000 CRORE 🔥 MONTHLY SALARY: ₹1.6 LAKH 🔥 SECURITY (Z+): ₹600 CRORE / YEAR 🔥 TRAVEL: ₹100 – ₹200 CRORE / YEAR 🔥 STAFF & OPERATIONS: ₹300 CRORE / YEAR 🚨 CONCLUSION: WHILE THE NATION'S FARMERS ARE RUNNING FROM PILLAR TO POST FOR ₹16,087 CRORE IN UNPAID SUGARCANE ARREARS, IT IS THE RIGHT OF EVERY CITIZEN TO QUESTION THIS LUXURIOUS DISPLAY OF POWER. 3️⃣ 'REELS' FOR TAXPAYER MONEY? 👉 PHOTOSHOOTS IN TEA GARDENS WITH FIVE CAMERAS AND FULL SHOOTING UNITS MAKE IT CLEAR: THIS ISN'T SIMPLICITY; IT’S 'PROPAGANDA' MANUFACTURED AT THE COST OF CRORES. DID THE PEOPLE OF INDIA GIVE THEIR HARD-EARNED MONEY SO IT COULD BE USED TO CREATE 'CINEMATIC REELS' FOR THE PRIME MINISTER? DIRECT QUESTION: IS THIS A 'PUBLIC SERVANT' OR A 'PROMOTION MINISTER'? 🚨 WHEN FORMER ECONOMIC ADVISORS AND THE PETERSON INSTITUTE SUGGEST THAT GDP FIGURES FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS ARE SUSPECT (REAL 4% VS. OFFICIAL 6%), THIS ANNUAL EXPENDITURE OF ₹1,000 CRORE FEELS EVEN MORE TERRIFYING. 👉 THE LINE OF MORALITY DRAWN IN 1975 HAS BEEN COMPLETELY ERASED BY TODAY'S ESTABLISHMENT. ON ONE HAND, THE COMMON MAN IS CRUSHED BY INFLATION; ON THE OTHER, AN EMPIRE OF ILLUSION IS BEING BUILT OUT OF THE PUBLIC TREASURY IN THE NAME OF "SIMPLICITY."

As received in Apartment WhatsApp Group ...👌👌👌 I live in a Bengaluru apartment. The guy in the flat above mine keeps pacing around 1 AM every night. Heavy footsteps. Daily. I’d had enough. One night, I took the lift up, ready to give him a proper piece of my mind. Before I could even knock, the door opened. He was holding a crying baby. The flat was almost empty. No sofa. No dining table. Just a mattress on the floor and a few cardboard boxes. He looked completely drained. “I’m really sorry,” he said softly. “I walk him to sleep. The floor makes noise. I know it’s disturbing.” I glanced around. “Where’s your furniture?” “Bed bugs in the previous place,” he replied. “Had to throw everything away. We just shifted. Still saving up for a crib.” Just like that, my anger disappeared. “Wait here,” I said. I went down and carried up my old rocking chair...the one sitting uselessly on my balcony. “Sit,” I told him. “Rocking is quieter than walking.” He sat. The baby calmed down in minutes. The next morning, I posted on our apartment WhatsApp group: “New family in 131 needs a fresh start. If anyone has spare furniture or baby stuff, please help.” By lunchtime, Bengaluru had done what Bengaluru does best. A crib. A sofa. A small dining table. Clothes. Home-cooked food. Even a pressure cooker. Tonight, there was no stomping. Just a soft knock on my door. “We slept for six hours,” he said, smiling. “Thank you.” Sometimes noise isn’t bad behaviour. It’s a bad phase. Judge less. Ask more.
