taking the participants through rough and dangerous terrain where wild animals and the so called ‘’ arsenal members’’ roam at will. It surely is not for the faint-hearted as temperatures soar to above 40 degrees Celsius. Even a normal bus ride is a nerve racking experience.

The ‘Walk’ will kick off April 2019 at sub-county commissioner office, Lafey constituency, and is expected to end in days at Moi stadium in Mandera Covering a distance of 120km, the route cuts the breadth and width of the vast and arid of the region,

The walk theme is “JOURNEY FOR HOPE AND HEALING” in pursuit of the status of Mandera –Lafey road.a gentle stroll across that is often stunningly attractive and largely undemanding, beginning in one of the most so called beautiful towns ‘’ Lafey’’ and ending in Mandera town.

The insecurity has affected the once busy and preferred Mandera -Lafey highway that stretch connecting the two towns and that has now been rendered impassable as militants carry out attacks at will along this road. #WalkOfLafey

Lafey Sub County has been hit hard by terror attacks in the past several years bearing the most brunt in the county. #WalkOfLafey

Grieved by the relentless and vicious terrorist attacks, imminent institutional collapse as a result and the governments perceived “don’t care attitude”, a group of professionals and activists from Mandera county will begin on a daring journey dubbed #WalkOfLafey

But every once in a while,individuals embark on an undertaking that does not necessarily invite throngs of participants or the clicks of many cameras,but rather demonstrates a kind of quiet commitment,a solitary sojourn to symbolize something important. #WalkOfLafey

I generally like the approach of these initiatives,because they involve the potential donor in active ways that money donation alone cannot,and the exercise by itself is a good thing! #WalkOfLafey
