I received this communication from a concerned Bengali citizen. I don’t agree with some of the more draconian steps that have been proposed. However, I am putting it out in the public space to allow people to gauge the extent of worry in West Bengal over free and fair elections: West Bengal election is very different from other states because of the extreme post election violence in WB after every election. A few very experienced retired Administrative officers including one who was frequently consulted by ex Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mr. T. N. Seshan, made 3 specific measures for conducting free and fair election in WB. The third one was highly recommended by ex CEC Mr. Nasim Zaidi. Please forward these 3 measures as ABSOLUTE PUBLIC DEMANDS to the National Election Commissioners, all top leaders and to everyone you know and make it viral for a real success. 1. Each of the 294 Assembly Constituency of WB has a Returning Officer (RO) who certifes the election result and declares the winning candidate for that Constituency. This is the most key position because the Election Commissioner is bound to honor the certification given by these ROs. But in WB, many ROs routinely certify the election despite rampant violence, murders, bombings in their Constituencies. They don't obey the "zero tolerance to violence" policy of the Election Commissioner. CEC then, is compelled to honor their decisions and after every violent election in WB issues a face-saving statement like "excepting only a few stray incidents the WB election has been conducted overall peacefully." This blatant lie after every election is a direct tolerance for violence and encouragement for the political goons. It is impossible to stop this violence unless all 294 Returning Officers are brought from outside of WB. As lakhs of central force personnel are brought from outside, it is quite possible to bring 294 ROs from outside of WB. No excuses, please. 2. In WB election must be conducted under strict Curfew in the whole Constituency only during the election hours. Only genuine voters with voter IDs can go out only to cast their votes and will come back to home. Election workers and political agents with Special IDs can go to their booths only. So, no unwanted people or political goons can move around, do loitering and intimidate voters. The area can be managed by much less number of Central forces. People can go out in medical and other emergency like in any other Curfew rules. 3. This third measure was endorsed by ex CEC Mr. Nasim Zaidi. A few decades ago election results were published for the Assembly Constituency as a whole and individual booth level election results were not published. Now the booth level election results are published. By analyzing the booth level election results and by easy calculations, the political parties can find out the voting patterns of individual homes and neighborhoods. This policy of publishing booth level election results is stripping the voters of their voting privacy which is the first and most important condition of democracy. This Booth level election results impose a huge and permanent threat to all voters all the year round. This threat can't be removed by deploying central force only in election time. So, Mr. Nasim Zaidi recommended to publish election results in bunches of 30 to 40 booths together and individual booth level election results must not be published. After 2021 WB Assembly election TMC goons conducted tremendous genocide to opposition supporters and looted, murdered, raped and arson and broke their houses and lakhs of opposition workers had to flee to other states. This violence was possible only because the booth level election results exposed the people who didn't vote for TMC. So the Election Commission must declare before hand that booth level election results will not be published.

Why are parents trapped into buying the books and uniforms from private school??? I spoke to so many parents and all said that even for Class 1 student, they have to spend almost 10,000 for both books and uniform!!! Why is education becoming unaffordable when it’s our fundamental right. Urge the governments and authorities to intervene and regulate this at the earliest!

It was the morning of March 1, 2022, in Karachi... The markets were just beginning to open... Zaheer Akhund, a furniture merchant, arrived at his shop. And before anyone could comprehend what was happening, the young man drew a pistol and fired the first shot at Zahoor... The bullet was deliberately fired at point-blank range, right into his chest, just below the right shoulder, specifically to ensure he would not die immediately. Zahoor collapsed. The young man then placed the pistol against his chest once more, directly over his heart, and declared, "This is from Rupin Katyal." And he fired the second shot... Subsequently, two more bullets were fired into his face, and the two young men sped away on their motorcycle... The man who lay dying, living under the alias of Zaheer Akhund, was, in reality, Zahoor Ibrahim Mistry... One of the terrorists involved in the Kandahar plane hijacking... and the murderer of Rupin Katyal. This entire operation was being witnessed by someone via a video call. Two other terrorist perpetrators of the Kandahar hijacking were later killed in Bahawalpur during an airstrike carried out by India. However, the manner in which RAW executed Zahoor Ibrahim Mistry struck sheer terror into the hearts of the terror masterminds and ISI operatives based in Pakistan...
