@DBanksy Yep it’s a ridiculous price hike but it’s encouraged me to get a heat pump I guess!

Before it kicked off in Iran, 500l of heating oil was £300, and today it is £790. A VAT holiday would save just £40. Every little helps, but this is really tinkering on the margins, it is not meaningful help.
Tim Farron@timfarron

Many people across rural Britain who use heating oil are being hammered with price rises. I've tabled a motion in Parliament that calls for an immediate three-month VAT holiday on heating oil and the introduction of a proper price cap. My interview with the BBC 👇

I think there is something wrong with my connection as for some reason despite weeks of coverage on the BBC of Angela Rayner’s tax affairs I don’t seem to be able to find a big @BBCNews story on Richard Tice’s tax affairs. Does anyone have any IT advice so I can read it?

@DarrenPlymouth We were told last year when they bombed Iran’s nuclear bunkers and killed the scientists that the Iranian nuclear programme was destroyed. Now we are to believe they had it up and running again in 6 months?

Julia Hartley-Brewer is one of the most disgusting people in mainstream media. She lies without remorse, glee on her face as she does so. Good on Sir Richard Dalton calling her out as a liar. Never forget what she did during COVID, the push for war with Russia, and her uber hawkishness on Iran.

@Sh3lby118 @BethRigby However she dresses it bombing the missile site is bombing Iran and by default Entering the war. I’m sure the daft ‘catching the arrows’ line seemed amusing when she discussed it with her SPADs

@BethRigby She said stop catching the arrows (intercepting bombs) get closer and drop your bomb on the archer (launch pad) firing them. Easy to do in your head if you're aged 14 on a Playstation game not so when you're in a real plane and not wanting to be blown up trying. She's nuts.

I have more. This is what the PM was referring to at #PMQs. An interview with the BBC, in which Badenoch says UK should support US actions but also says I haven't said that we should have gone in with the US and with Iran. PRES: Is it coherent to call for the UK to join the war to not question the end game strategy and at the same time complain about rising energy bills? KB: No, that’s not what I've done. I have been very clear that our government should be thinking ahead. We had a spring statement last week where the Chancellor knew that there was going to be an oil price shock and said absolutely nothing about it. That's why I'm saying that she needs to stop the fuel duty increase, which she's planning in September. PRES: Sorry I'm confused. You did say, though, that the UK should join…you did say that the UK should be there in support of the United States and Israel. KB: So I said that we support their actions. I never said we should join. I did say that where British bases are being attacked, we should do more than catch the arrows. We should stop the people who are attacking us. Stop the archer. PRES: Just so we're clear, what does that actually mean? KB: Please don't confuse those two things. They're quite different things. PRES: But for people who've not seen your comments, what does that actually mean? Does that mean strikes on Iran? How else do you stop the missiles incoming to UK bases? KB: So, when missiles are being fired, the launchers which are kept deep underground come out. If you take out the capacity, that means that they will stop sending missiles over. So don't just catch the arrows. Stop the Archer. If all you do is try and catch arrows you will get hit. I haven't said that we should have gone in with the US and with Iran. Although I do say that when it comes to the two sides, I will always be on the side of the US and Israel, not Iran. That doesn't mean that we should join… that we should join those strikes. It's very, very important that we let people know what is going on. The government is trying to muddy the waters and stop criticism. I will not accept that - I'm going to do my job and make sure that they are held to account.

@vince_yarwood @BethRigby She said we should be bombing sites in Iran that we saw as a threat. However she dresses it that would be joining the US and Israel in the war given they are also bombing missile sites etc. her mistake was to misjudge the UK public mood and the impact on the world economy
