@BBCNews Athletes should not be allowed to compete for more than one nation. I accept his mother is Brazilian but he was born, raised, funded by Norway and has competed for them for many years. It makes a mockery of international sport.

We are still underestimating the time it takes to teach writing well. Writing can’t be rushed. Too many writing schemes seem to prioritise coverage over quality.

I’ve never read a book that punched me in the gut, made me feel a fire in my belly and an ache in my heart quite like this one. It made me think of kids I’ve taught, made me question whether I did enough. All teachers should read this.

@WritingRocks_17 We are so excited as we are starting to receive the first replies to our letters. They’re motived to read them too. They wrote letters to the police, bin collectors, the Art club hub, jungle keepers, the president of Singapore, Michael Rosen, S. Yoshitake, Messi and many others.

@WritingRocks_17 Absolutely! Curiosity letters was one the best class projects I have experienced with my KS1 children. They were so motivated because their curiosity was genuine and writing had a purpose. They wrote amazing letters, great quality writing pieces! They wanted to be read.

Writing for pleasure in KS1! The children are developing their writing collection. Each child was able to make/ write 7 books for our class projects, in different genres (so far, during the current academic year)! More for their personal writing projects. @WritingRocks_17

They feel secure and their self regulation during our writing lessons are great because the lessons are consistent and they are actively learning. This is the best way to teach writing to children! @WritingRocks_17

They wrote poetry, narrative, story picture books, memoirs and non-fiction books/ writing pieces.All projects gave the children the opportunity to learn about the writing processes, have agency, develop their self-efficacy and self-regulation. @WritingRocks_17
