Meeting him in the company of his coach Claudio Berardelli and Manager Eric Lilot, his calm and self-effacing demeanor wouldn’t give away the history he had just written. As we continue to rightly congratulate Sawe, we also salute the men and women- fellow athletes and others who made this moment possible. Unknown to many, a marathon is a team sport. Behind every conquering athlete is a team of coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, pacers- people who inspire, motivate, encourage and if necessary challenge the runner.
