Wonk alert--but worth watching! GA law mandates that if a bill has $5+M fiscal impact, a fiscal note must be prepared BEFORE vote on bill. GOP lawmakers ignored the law, b/c cost is near $50M (4 years). See what happens when @elenaparent challenges. 1/ youtu.be/tGbCOznyb94

Georgia Governor Eugene Talmadge (1933-1937 and 1941-1943) said, "We in the South love the Negro in his place, but his place is at the back door.” Talmadge also said, "If black Georgians were given the right to vote, they’d become arrogant and drunk with their own power.”

Rewriting the rules to make it harder to vote will disproportionately affect Black and Brown Americans. What is happening in Georgia only underscores the need to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. It’s time to #RestoreTheVRA.

1. You've probably seen this picture of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and his gaggle of white men signing the state's voter suppression law -- the new, new Jim Crow. But there's a shocking angle to this story that you haven't heard. Sit down for this one...

1. Georgia's Governor just signed a law that: - restricts drop boxes - curtails early voting for runoffs - criminalizes giving water to people waiting in line to vote - imposes new ID requirements for absentee ballots Prominent corporations helped make this possible.

What happened in Georgia today is shameful.

"The real purpose here was to intensify control over how every aspect of elections are run in Georgia. So when there are close elections in the future, which they know there will be, they will have unprecedented power to challenge the election results..." @AriBerman

This is insane: Georgia Dem rep @Cannonfor58 was arrested for trying to watch Brian Kemp sign new voter suppression bill. Look at how she is treated by police. This is straight out of Jim Crow

This pic pretty much sums up.
