I never quite got pimp-slapped by a surprising "hard" PG or PG-13 film. (I turned 13 in fall 1993, so the industry had caught up by then.)
But what this reminds me most of all of is how WILDLY VARIANT the R ratings could be. I remember when my mom let me see whatever film I wanted - with her - for my 15th birthday. So I picked what looked like a cool, dark crime thriller.
Boy was the drive home from the theaters with my mom ever awkward after we left SEVEN that afternoon.

It's amazing how film ratings slid. My dad was a little taken aback that we took the family to see the Wonder Woman movie because it was PG-13 and our youngest was 7. He was shocked that it was just an average action movie. Jaws was PG! There was nudity in PG movies! F-Bombs!

@MattNorlander I saw that West Virginia was to play UNC in the Dick Vitale Invitational on Black Friday. Did the game get moved, or is UNC playing someone else?

Additional context on this scheduling nugget: Schools are in discussions, but WVU vs. Kentucky on Black Friday is considered more 50/50 at this point than a sure thing, per sources.

Sources tell KSR that Kentucky is in negotiations to play West Virginia in basketball on Black Friday in Nashville There was a possibility of the game being against Illinois but that fell through and now it’s potentially West Virginia. Deal still not finalized
