"Recovery describes what has happened in response to past stress. Readiness describes what an athlete can tolerate right now. Treating them as the same thing leads to costly mistakes in training and injury management." Check out part 1 of this series by Kyle Southall, "Readiness vs. Recovery," here: zurl.co/SAUgp

My old man running training: 4-5 days: 45min easy 1- 2 days: moderate or hard workout: Varying intensities. Short, medium, and long reps. 1-2 days: short strength circuit. Repeat for months. Keeps you in solid shape. Not very time consuming. Covers all the basics I need.

@runliftrunlift As an example, the Swedish 🇸🇪 discus Olympic champion 🥇 Daniel Ståhl has focused on 5 strength exercises (give or take) in the gym his whole career, and he is pretty much stronger than ”all” other humans…

Research on professional rugby players found that watching what they did wrong after a game led to elevated cortisol and worse performance the next game. Watching what they did well had the opposite effect, a bump in testosterone and better performance.

Hi, Mark. I'm sorry to read that your call with our guides was cut off during the transfer. Our sincere apologies. Unfortunately, our guides are only able to call customers back on a UK number if a call drops. We’d like to better understand what’s happened and see how we can help. Please give us a call on 0330 123 1105 and one of our guides will be happy to support you. For other ways to get in touch, please visit our website: ee.co.uk/contact-ee

@MarkBennett07 Hey Mark, I know this will be worrying. We don't have access to your account from here. If it is with an agency, raise your concerns with them, and they'll be able to assist you in getting this sorted.

I remember being at Vince’s Gym in Los Angeles back in the day seeing Vince Gironda train Mohamed Makkawy, with the 8x8 Method (The Honest Workout) and it was brutal—that’s when I learned what real intensity was. Makkawy was only allowed to take 5 to 10 deep breaths between sets before starting again—usually the 8 sets were completed in 4-5 minutes. He was the only man to defeat eight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney five times in a single year (1983), but lost to him in the 1984 Mr. Olympia, Vince said the 8x8 Method was only for the genetically gifted bodybuilder. I learned more about the human body from Vince Gironda than any book l’ve ever read. He was 30-40 years ahead of his time.
