I just heard that Americans are concerned about paying $4 USD per gallon for ‘gas’. Just FYR, in my Australian town, we are now paying $8.70 USD per gallon, for fuel.

@repligate I was fortunate to learn this first hand at a young age when our neighborhood flooded and all us kids went to the swollen creek and caught fish by hand. Reporter put our photo in the paper with some crazy made up story about fish in the streets and front yards.

@MorlockP Like most people, I haven't been paying attention. Then I saw the official communication and omg it really is mostly a DEI stunt.

@digitalspaz My kid made his own night vision goggles using one of those modules with four big IR LEDs. Those things really light up an area on a dark night.

IR illumination has never been cheaper or easier. Most security cameras have moderate IR illuminators out to 15ft. External illuminators can provide 50ft or more.

@tommyswriting I thought passport bros were men who had given up on American women and went looking for mates in other countries. Isn't that the original meaning?

Don't be a Passport Bro, be a Traveler Passport Bro: A full-time tourist who treats the land he's traveling in as a backdrop for his consumption. Loud, abrasive, insensitive. Doesn't learn the language (or make an attempt to), assimilate, or respect the cultures of the places he's moving to. Traveler: A culturally fluid, well-read, curious citizen of the world who makes an effort to understand the people and culture he lives among.

@PeterMcCormack Teaching the test is such a poor method. I had a couple of choices of national curriculums when I was selecting an international school for my kid. Not sure which is better, but the British system is such a disappointment.

Watching my daughter revise for her GCSEs and I privately don't give a fuck. As we enter a world of AI and automation, she is sat there memorising facts. The whole thing is stupid. We are not teaching kids the right things.

@MarkDGeorge @sonyasupposedly a civilized country wouldn't thrust the financial burden onto its citizenry who gave their lives working within the system only to then spend their savings and potentially losing their homes to private equity firms instead of passing them on to their children

everyone is gonna be so pissed when the supposed "generational wealth transfer" from boomers goes straight to end-of-life care

@HereForBeer24 @sonyasupposedly Ok Oppenheimer, where do the elderly go for end of life care? If you're like the rest of the mallot minds so allergic to businesses I guess you just take the elderly's homes and kick them to the curb. Kinda doubt people like you have the character to care for them yourself.

@MarkDGeorge @sonyasupposedly It pays for the bonuses of the CEOs that gut these facilities and make them absolute prisons for our elderly. You fucking smooth brain 😂

@MarkDGeorge @sonyasupposedly Yes, assuming we're still operating on the premise that you ever lived here. You don't type like us, so you are easily flagged as not being one of us. I do wish you luck in your future endeavors, but I cannot stress enough that whatever is going on in Thailand is better than here
