@Comrade_Dolphin They're not saying that the top end of stem doesn't require critical thinking, they're saying that the long runway doesn't. But humanities also has a runway (vocabulary, spelling, etc.) we just tend to start it earlier, particularly in western education systems.

@OwariDa @robertgraham I think the auto-uppercasing doesn't apply to newer passwords, which can utilize the newly-introduce case sensitivity. But auto-uppercasing should still continue for older passwords instead of being made the user's responsibility, unless they don't have the pwd birth dates (odd).

Um, no, they are still stored as hashes. They were just converting text to upper-case before hashing. There's no reason to believe they stored plain-text passwords. Indeed, this message indicates the opposite: they can't fix the problem because they don't know your plain-text password, so have to force customers to fix it themselves.
vx-underground@vxunderground

1. This isn't fake. 2. Credentials are stored as hashes. It should be literally, with no exaggeration, impossible for a vendor to know your credentials while uppercase UNLESS they weren't storing passwords as hashes. What the fuck is HSBC India doing?

With fuel restrictions likely to be announced tonight & presumably no COVID-scale support to come with it, I think folks who assume Labor can’t possibly lose the next election are vastly overconfident. Morrison alleviated discomfort with COVID restrictions by HELPING people.

Requiring welfare recipients to waste money and petrol on unnecessary meetings, and exploitative work for the dole programs, is nonsensical. Poor people cannot afford to pay even higher prices for their own punishment" - @kristin8X thepoint.com.au/opinions/26033…

@falcundo it's also bizarre to think Dodger fans (as troublesome as some of them can be at times) would spend $20+ on a beer to hurl it at someone.

You can now get your $20 can of beer from a machine at Dodger Stadium. RIP human jobs at the Ravine.

@BigGulpAmerikan The analogy presumably refers to the freshly-minted trans/feminist talking point that women's sports exist because they were beating the men.

@grahamscheper Oh, so saying "you are fools!" Is proper if you're talking to multiple people. And "thou are retarded" could be proper talking to one person

Why does English not have a plural “you”? Well, it’s because “you” is already plural. The singular is “thou”. This was observed grammatically in Old English, when one person was þū and multiple people were ġē, but after the Norman invasion the plural became the polite form of address, and by the 1800s that became the nigh-universal standard. Nowadays, as a result, we have to reinvent the plural with contractions like “y’all”.

@tmuxvim Because if it was used for laying out articles in interesting ways it wouldn't be anything new. Automatic typesetting isn't anything new, this is just calculating the typesetting every frame, like would happen in, for example, a video game.

PrSM production accelerates! A new DoW framework will quadruple Precision Strike Missile output. This expansion comes on the heels of a historic first as PrSMs were used in combat, providing an unrivaled deep‑strike capability.

@DaveMilbo Hostile media plays a part, but I also think they could be more aggressive with their messaging. They have some great senators like Pocock and Shoebridge digging into corruption and mediocrity, but they don't really push on it outside senate estimates.

Question: Why do you think the Australian Greens can't seem to bust out of the 10-14% range of the vote? Hostile media? Too beuigose? Their candidates? Their messaging? Their Their name? Is Australia just innately pro-war, pro-racism, pro-fossil fuels? The party seems stuck.

@pk_kenzie If you want to use it for something that will be processing inputs, such as plugging a gaming console into your computer, you'll want the expensive variety. If you're just doing something like using a camera as a webcam, the cheap variety will be sufficient.

@pk_kenzie The cheap ones turn an HDMI signal into a USB signal, which works but can have some latency and sometimes insufficient bandwidth. The expensive ones occupy a PCIe slot, so are much faster and can work at higher frame rates/resolutions.

Pauline Hanson was questioned again about flights. She's actually saving the taxpayers money and has declared everything but the far left media hacks just can't help themselves. As an aside, I doubt she'll ever receive as many free flights as the yes campaign did for their stupid voice to parliament failure.

How is it that teenagers can find a drug dealer in like 10 minutes… but somehow the police “can’t”? That doesn’t even make sense to me. Either nobody’s really trying, or something about the system is way more broken than they admit.
