@Dr_M_Davis @security_wonk Good story! I’d argue that space control is more than active defence of space assets … not just freedom of action in space, but freedom of action full stop. I think e.g. denying adversary ISR over terrestrial operations is part of space control.

Amidst the furor over the government's cancellation of #JP9102, my piece in @security_wonk on the need for Australia to acquire the means to undertake Space Control. If we did acquire GEO based satcomm (as part of a multi-orbit satcomm architecture), Space Control could allow those high-bandwidth satellites to be effectively defended. If we want space resilience, Space Control has to be a tool in our toolbox as a Space Power. The Case for Space Control: An Australian Perspective globalsecurityreview.com/the-case-for-s…

@Noahpinion Is that really surprising? Wouldn’t everyone work less if they had the choice?

@EnergyWrapAU You’re comparing the NEM now to some imaginary alternate universe where Australia has 5 nuclear reactors! How is that helpful?

A week in the life of wind, solar and battery in the NEM: - 180 facilities - 20,000 MW capacity - 705 GWh - max: 8,100 MW - min: 900 MW The alternative in nuclear: - 5 facilities (AP1000) - 5,000 MW capacity - 840 GWh - max: 5,000 MW - min: 5,000 MW

@Leefeyon @GilmourSpace @BIS_spaceflight There’s two playing. Gilmour and the ASA. Gilmour have been around longer than the ASA. They’ve been in constant communication. Gilmour literally influenced the launch licence process they’re following … so they’ve always known the process and how long it would take!

Great to see our upcoming #Eris rocket launch featured in the UK's @BIS_spaceflight magazine!🚀 DYK, the last rocket launched to orbit from Australia was a UK rocket in 1971. Let's do it again... but this time with an Aussie rocket 🇦🇺 (Awaiting the launch permit :-)

@Dr_M_Davis @heospace They’re so good the US have literally changed their laws to allow US companies to do the same thing.

Amazing! Australia needs both ground based AND space based space domain awareness to support key defence space missions including Space Control tasks. @heospace are world leaders in commercial space surveillance! Australian owned and operated!

Non-Earth imaging provides the best view of satellites in space 🤩 We captured this image of the ISS as it passed over the Indian Ocean from a satellite 69.06 km away.

@Dr_M_Davis @GilmourSpace Rubbish. This is entirely on Gilmore. It’s not a new process … they knew about it, just haven’t done the work.
