I am excited to share an updated preprint from my PhD work with @lisa_giocomo! This project was co-led by @KaganovskyNeuro when he was a PhD student with Tom Südhof. 🧵below! Hippocampal place code plasticity in CA1 requires postsynaptic membrane fusion biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Big news! I've accepted an offer from @UTAustin @ut_neuroscience and will start my lab in January! We'll be doing NHP #neuropixel recordings and BCIs to understand the neural mechanisms of attention and self control. It's a dream come true and I am so thankful to my mentors 🥲

I'm excited to share a preprint reflecting my PhD work with @lisa_giocomo, where we characterized the impact of aging on the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC), a key hub of spatial coding and memory. 🧵below! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… (1/11)

Stay tuned for an updated preprint from @KaganovskyNeuro that digs into the in vitro characterization of Stx3-dependent plasticity as well as a slew of Stx3-dependent (and independent) behaviors!

We also found that CA1 Stx3 is necessary for expressing in vivo correlates of behavioral timescale plasticity and for plasticity associated with putative sharp wave ripples. This means Stx3-dependent membrane fusion may be a common molecular mechanism for these processes!

The ACR lab will be opening soon @DukeU! We are looking for curious biologists, computer scientists, and neuroscientists to study how the brain "turns on" during development. More info here 👉 bootingupthebrain.org

It was an immense pleasure to join the ASAP crew & @MichaelLinLab for this project! ASAP4 is an awesome tool for the community! Congrats to all of the authors!

Today in @naturemethods: our new positively tuned voltage indicator, ASAP4e, for extended electrical recordings in the brain. ASAP4e achieves greater responsivity (>200% per 100mV vs 50% for other fluorescent voltage sensors) and better photostability. nature.com/articles/s4159…
