Master Sgt. Gary Gordon and Sgt. 1st Class Randy Shughart were elite Delta Force snipers deployed during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. When a Black Hawk helicopter (call sign Super Six Four) was shot down deep in hostile territory, the two men repeatedly requested permission to be inserted at the crash site to protect the downed crew. Command initially denied their request, knowing how dangerous the situation was-but Gordon and Shughart persisted, fully aware they would be vastly outnumbered and likely not survive. Their request was eventually granted. Once on the ground, Gordon and Shughart fought off waves of Somali militia fighters estimated to be between 200 to 300 strong. Armed only with their rifles and sidearms, they defended the injured pilot, Chief Warrant Officer Mike Durant, with fierce determination. After exhausting their ammunition, both men were KIA. Their heroism gave Durant a chance to survive and delayed the enemy long enough to alter the course of the battle. In recognition of their bravery and self-sacrifice, both men were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor-the highest military decoration in the United States. Their actions remain a defining example of valor and loyalty in the face of overwhelming odds.

After everything I’ve been through, I was never able to study normally.” In a recent interview, a 14-year-old Jewish student in Paris 🇫🇷 recounted the hell he endured at school because of his Jewish identity. He was harassed, assaulted, and subjected to antisemitic slurs by classmates and students from nearby schools. The abuse escalated to the point where he was beaten in an ambush outside his school. Abandoned by the school staff, he ultimately chose to transfer for his own safety. The principal is required to report such incidents to the authorities, yet he failed to do so. Not only did he fail to protect this 14-year-old boy, he also allowed his suffering to remain hidden. This is how severe the situation has become for Jewish students in France. Antisemitism is reaching alarming levels inside schools. I wish this were an isolated case, but he is far from the first student to leave school since October 7 due to antisemitism. Schools must take antisemitism seriously, and act now.
