BREAKING We have hit the symbolic 81 MPs publicly calling for Keir Starmer to go What is striking is the fact that they hail from ***all wings** of the party - about a third are centrists, 16 are from the hard left and around 30 from the soft left It is just symbolic - given the differences of opinion about the timetable the chances of them coalescing around a single candidate are relatively low - but it is a moment Louise Haigh, Sheffield Heeley Anneliese Midgley, Knowsley Sarah Owen, Luton North Connor Naismith, Crewe and Nantwich David Baines, St Helens North Simon Opher, Stroud Ruth Jones, Newport West and Islwyn Clive Lewis, Norwich South Richard Burgon, Leeds East Olivia Blake, Sheffield Hallam Jon Trickett, Normanton and Hemsworth Graham Stringer, Blackley and Middleton South Apsana Begum, Poplar and Limehouse Nadia Whittome, Nottingham East Ian Lavery, Blyth and Ashington Jonathan Brash, Hartlepool Kim Johnson, Liverpool Riverside Paula Barker, Liverpool Wavertree Peter Lamb, Crawley Kate Osborne, Jarrow and Gateshead East Andy McDonald, Middlesbrough and Thornaby East Abtisam Mohamed, Sheffield Central Catherine West, Hornsey and Friern Barnet Clive Betts, Sheffield South East Debbie Abrahams, Oldham East and Saddleworth Tony Vaughan, Folkestone and Hythe Neil Duncan-Jordan, Poole Chris Hinchliff, North East Hertfordshire Barry Gardiner, Brent West Ian Byrne, Liverpool West Derby Beccy Cooper, Worthing West Justin Madders, Ellesmere Port and Bromborough Terry Jermy, South West Norfolk Imran Hussain, Bradford East Josh Simons, Makerfield Brian Leishman, Alloa and Grangemouth Anna Dixon, Shipley Euan Stainbank, Falkirk Irene Campbell, North Ayrshire and Arran Rachael Maskell, York Central Paulette Hamilton, Birmingham Erdington David Smith, North Northumberland Navendu Mishra, Stockport Cat Eccles, Stourbridge Bell Ribeiro-Addy, Clapham and Brixton Hill Markus Campbell-Savours, Penrith and Solway Chris Curtis, Milton Keynes North Luke Myer, Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland Alan Gemmell, Central Ayrshire Catherine McKinnell, Newcastle upon Tyne North Lorraine Beavers, Blackpool North and Fleetwood Fred Thomas, Plymouth Moor View Paul Davies, Colne Valley Sarah Smith, Hyndburn Jas Athwal, Ilford South Jo Platt, Leigh and Atherton Tonia Antoniazzi, Gower Alex Ballinger, Halesowen Sally Jameson, Doncaster Central Tom Rutland, East Worthing and Shoreham Joe Morris, Hexham Sam Carling, North West Cambridgeshire Naushabah Khan, Gillingham and Rainham Lee Pitcher, Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme Yuan Yang, Earley and Woodley Rachel Taylor, North Warwickshire and Bedworth Melanie Ward, Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy Alex McIntyre, Gloucester Ben Goldsborough, South Norfolk Charlotte Nichols, Warrington North Mary Kelly Foy, City of Durham Matt Bishop, Forest of Dean Maureen Burke, Glasgow North East Beccy Cooper, Worthing West Sarah Hall, Warrington South Gordon McKee, Glasgow South Tahir Ali, Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley Richard Baker, Glenrothes and Mid Fife James Asser, West Ham and Beckton Miatta Fahnbulleh, Peckham Paul Foster, South Ribble

Arooj shah has been one of the main opponents of a grooming gang inquiry in Oldham and on her first day Harriet Harman, on her mission to improve the lives of women and girls in this country wants to appoint her to the lords? Completely rotten
Nick Timothy MP@NJ_Timothy

Starmer's new "special envoy" already hard at work, handing out peerages. Message since deleted, but this was sent to Labour's defeated leader in Oldham. They never change.

Zack Polanski has admitted that he failed to pay the correct council tax while living on a houseboat in London. This is the same lunatic who would increase tax for the rest of us. It’s always those who preach about paying tax who evade tax. Hypocritical, champagne socialist!

Rejoining the EU will not in and of itself increase economic growth in the UK, just as leaving the EU did not reduce it. Brexit was largely a macroeconomic non-event. This could be different if the UK were to rejoin the EU with a positive agenda for growth and deregulation, and about strengthening the EU’s role in the world. I am not holding my breath here. Remain was a scare campaign in 2016. What I have seen from Rejoin advocates so far is essentially a version of the same. eurointelligence.com

HARMAN LOBBIES FOR LORDS SEAT FOR COUNCILLOR WHO BLOCKED GANG RAPE INQUIRY Baroness Harriet Harman is lobbying to place Arooj Shah in the House of Lords. Harman, a Labour peer and former deputy leader of the party, posted a public reply to Shah’s X account. The message was short. “Hi. Hope all good with you. For next Lords list? H.” She is a sitting member of the second chamber. She is using that position to bring into the same house the woman who spent years blocking a government investigation into the cover-up of the gang rape of children in Oldham. SHAH BLOCKED THE INQUIRY Arooj Shah is the leader of Oldham Council. She is despised across the town for a specific and documented reason. She repeatedly blocked attempts to call in the government to investigate how the rape of young White girls by Pakistani rape gangs was buried by the very institutions she now leads. She is regularly seen in the company of a convicted heroin dealer who was the getaway driver for a cop killer. Her brother is a convicted money launderer. She celebrates election victories alongside a man convicted for kidnap and torture. These are not allegations. They are matters of record. HARMAN KNOWS Labour’s exposure on grooming gangs is severe. The national inquiry exists because journalists and campaigners forced it into being against the resistance of MPs like her colleagues. Harman knows what Oldham represents in that story. She sent the tweet anyway. The Joint Committee on Human Rights cannot be chaired by a politician privately advancing the Lords prospects of a council leader implicated in blocking accountability for child sexual exploitation. Harman’s mandate and her conduct are irreconcilable. She has made her choice visible. A PEERAGE ENDS THE QUESTION A Lords appointment would place Shah beyond the reach of any future local election. It would insulate her from the political consequences of everything documented above and give her a platform no Oldham voter could remove. Nobody proposes a peerage in a two-line tweet without having run the conversation already. Harman is not acting alone. Somewhere in the Labour leadership, someone looked at Arooj Shah’s record and decided she deserved elevation to the second chamber of the British Parliament. They looked at everything above and concluded she was the right choice. That decision was made. It was made deliberately. And it was made by people who believe they will never be held to account for it. THE COUNCIL MOTION Reform UK councillors in Oldham will be asked to table a motion at the next full council meeting calling on the council to write formally to the House of Lords Appointments Commission opposing any nomination for Arooj Shah. A letter from Oldham Council itself carries a different weight than letters from individuals. It is the institution she leads, on record, telling the body responsible for vetting her that her own town objects. HOLAC cannot ignore a formal submission from the council whose leader is under consideration. It becomes part of the file. Labour councillors do not have the numbers to vote it down. Should any other councillor try, they will have voted to suppress Oldham’s objection to the woman who blocked the rape gang inquiry being handed a life peerage. Their vote will also be on record. _________ I’m Raja Miah MBE. For seven years, I led a campaign that exposed how senior Labour politicians helped protect Pakistani rape gangs. The people of my town helped force the national inquiry. My work is free. No paywalls. No gatekeeping. No exclusions. Because the truth shouldn’t belong only to those who can afford it. The problem with this line is that they are *already* negotiating to join parts of the single market - food, carbon pricing, electricity.
Sam Coates Sky@SamCoatesSky

EXC: Lisa Nandy tells @cathynewman there will be no return to single market or free movement with the EU (raising the question of how far Keir Starmer's EU reset announced this AM can actually go) “I don't think anyone in this country wants to reopen the Brexit debate. We had a referendum. That referendum was won by leave. "The majority of people voted for it…. there's no appetite, either from the government, from Europe, or from the public, I think, to start getting into renegotiating things like free movement, single market access. "We went around that track for years during the Brexit wars. This country doesn't need any more division."

This is completely mad. Britain has no history of polygamy. It's been illegal to enter into a polygamous marriage in England since 1604. When people come to this country, they should abide by our norms. Allowing them not to and then giving them taxpayer money for it is mental.
