@kitmalthouse Poorly written bill opposed by many in the medical profession including myself. Why have you not advocated for more investment in palliative care? Why are Hospices dependent upon charity? The Lodds are bringing their collective expertise and life experience to actual look at this

The House of Lords has disgraced parliament. Their existence is based on trust, now roundly abused by a small group of unelected zealots. Time for a serious look at who these people are, and how they are allowed to govern us. The X trolls will be jubilant, but we will be back.

'It's a sad day' Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, who introduced a bill to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales, spoke to #BBCBreakfast as the Bill fails to become law following opposition in the House of Lords bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@medicalmodelbri @gmcuk @lengreview Not joined - can’t work. Why should I as a doctor not be allowed to work but unregistered PAs can. GMC is not fit for purpose - retirement get closer

And now the @gmcuk is considering another grace period of 6 months once the title is changed to assistants . They should’ve been working on this already! It’s been almost a year since @lengreview
@medicalmodelwithabriochebun@medicalmodelbri

Many PAs including the @UMAPsUK leader have no intention to join the register , why should they ? They can carry on harming patients freely without any consequences. @UKParliament allowed this to happen. There was no logical reason for the 2 yr grace period

@jamie_wallis @drlukeevans @DrJoFranklin If I as a fully qualified GP have done a clinically appropriate referral then if harm or death happens to a patient due to rejection of referral ( and it will) the responsibility MUST lie with a fully qualified named Consultant. I am not holding risk that I have no control over

@DrHuw Off the top of my head - BLS. Was at a hockey club and a player went into VF. Training kicked in - defibrillator summoned and used. Person was in SR and awake when the ambulance arrived

@MarshySnr Agree that some is probably unavoidable e.g. manual handing, but most is pointless Which other mandatory training do you think should be ‘mandatory ‘for doctors?

Mandatory training for doctors in the NHS has got out of hand Medicolegal box-ticking protection for NHS Trusts, transferring all responsibility to the employee Vast majority of little value: a grifting industry to support lanyard classes leaching from the state

Mandatory Training Passport Employers. Make this a thing. I swear I've got better things to do than resit the bloody Oliver McGowan course for the 4th time in as many years because you won't recognise a prior employers certificate

@GarethDavies007 The problem is not with any particular party - but with politicians who have no life experience and go straight into politics via a route which does not involve working in the real world

There’s been a lot of talk about how Labour ministers aren’t qualified and have little experience relevant to the position in cabinet they hold So let’s look at one such example Bridget Phillipson She was born on 19 December 1983 in Gateshead 1/5 dailymail.co.uk/debate/article…

Mohamed Ali Khan was caught trying to rape a 14-year-old British girl. His defence: “I’ve only just arrived, I didn’t know raping kids was illegal here.” Britain is deliberately importing men from cultures where this isn’t even considered a crime. It’s child rape importation by a treasonous government that hates its own people. Deport them all. Put British lives first.

If you were ill would you rather be treated by someone who has 2 years 'sort of' training so has to use 'google dr' or a resident doctor with years & years of study and training? I'll take the resident doctor all day long, so to Mr Streeting - PAY THEM A DECENT WAGE.

Making me tap the sign! Most professional work is mundane. To those who are highly skilled. Which takes years of lifting heavy books, experience and training. Also, nobody can do the super-hard stuff all day, every day. That's a recipe for burnout.
exveindoc@theveindoc

@trentconsultant @doctorcaldwell @Telegraph @wesstreeting Why are we channelling the brightest A level students into medicine where much of the work is pretty mundane? Surely we need the brightest students to go into areas where they will help build the great businesses of tomorrow to produce the wealth to enable us to employ more Drs

@iDrSunny Old adage. If you are happy to hand out stick then you have to be willing to receive it in return. Also be able to defend a position you have taken. If there is no basis to your argument then turn off comments😂😂

This is happening in every other professional setting. So why don’t doctors’ unions have an answer for the challenges of access and the opportunity of a broadening skills base? Other than, of course, to go on strike and to slag off their colleagues?

@DrSteveTaylor I’m the same generation but totally disagree with his views. Had free hospital accommodation, no student debt, had to work sometimes upto 100 per week. Beer in the mess was paid for by cremation fees. Aways get a hot meal - I support the RD despite my post op visit cancelled

@Melissa_S_Ryan @iDrSunny Lord Bethell again presents an argument without any backing evidence. As a doctor, I practice evidence based medicine- difficult to take his view seriously. Perhaps he should go back to finding his phone which contains evidence of his other actions in Covid contracts😂😂

The answer is not to dilute standards. Look at the aviation industry. They don’t pivot away from pilots with a shortage. They value their skills, invest, and train more. Why should patients have to accept less?

Learning about the trials of becoming a dr. 5 years studying to then be allocated an area, through a number randomly assigned, that is nowhere near your home and support network. How is that a sensible approach? Any medical people able to offer advice to a dad trying to help?

@TheSnoozeDoctor I have 4th med students in clinic and theatre every week during term time. Small percentage don’t engage but vast majority do and the more you put into teaching them, the more you get out. Needs to examine his teaching methods to see why students aren’t ’present’

Well it’s a shame that one of these remarkable PA students at the “PA Apprentice Clinic” failed to recognise what was going on in good time. I would argue a medical student would have identified the issues, and the outcome for this patient could have been very different indeed !!
