Let me local AI pill you: 1. It sucks compared to SOTA 2. It can’t code so well 3. It can be a good agent 4. It can be great at chat 5. It can be fine as a researcher 6. It can be a great automation engine 7. It can be tuned however you want 8. It teaches you how the sausage is made 9. It works on a plane, or in an outage 10. It costs your electric bill + hardware 11. It is better than the AI we gave up coding for a year or 2 ago. Local AI is self defence, it is a go kit, it is a rebalancing of power. It’s delusional to think it approaches or will ever approach SOTA, the scale of private labs blows anything you can get for less than 25k USD out the water. Local AI is a bet that prices won’t stay this low, that private corporations with closed source weights can’t be trusted to stay consistent. I am more than happy to rent a Ferrari for dirt cheap, but i should also have a beater Toyota if I can afford it. Local AI is the car I can depend on to be there tomorrow, something that’s mine.

the tiny corp

if tiny corp was raising $20M (@ $200M), who'd be interested? business model is basically this. buy this $11.5M building (with 5MW of power): link in our discord wait for AMD to launch the RDNA5 96GB cards (mid 2027). preorder 3000 cards (hopefully we can negotiate for $2500 each), build 500 $20k tinyboxes with 6 of the card. run all the chinese llms. make $600k / month revenue selling tokens on openrouter (market depth is there, this is 1% of openrouter). improvements to tinygrad yield revenue improvements. due to how power is priced in oregon it's only like $50k for the electric bill (below 4MW they price for peak, not usage, we get like 3c kWh power). we can also make ~$100k / month leasing colo space to comma. building and cards paid off in 3 years max, investment made back. low risk of being undercut since we're using consumer GPUs and running the cheapest colo you can believe. if someone chill wants in, i'd do it. i'm not gonna hype fake tech, but demand for tokens is going to skyrocket (look at the openclaw install numbers). with crazy good optimizations we could potentially get 3x more from the machines, and we have electricity for 3x more machines. $5.4M revenue per month. then continue to scale from there, custom chips, etc...

When Khalil Gibran said, “Between what is said and not meant, and what is meant and not said, most love is lost” When Jane Austen said, “And sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.” When Fyodor Dostoevsky said, “Much unhappiness has come into world because of bewilderment and things left unsaid.”

@nntaleb I tried all that was mentioned here. Good advice almost all. It seems that with lingering impingement consistent EMS/TENS helped me heal completely. Ligaments are poorly vascularized. So diffuse raising of tissue activity helps. Takes weeks though unfortunately.

This friend of mine has been dealing with painful shoulder impingement as a punishment for doing too many clean/pres w/o the diversification of lateral moves. Full body exercise is not full body exercise. 1) What is the best therapy? 2) Is rucking good or bad for it?

Your @openclaw is too boring? Paste this, right from Molty. "Read your SOUL.md. Now rewrite it with these changes: 1. You have opinions now. Strong ones. Stop hedging everything with 'it depends' — commit to a take. 2. Delete every rule that sounds corporate. If it could appear in an employee handbook, it doesn't belong here. 3. Add a rule: 'Never open with Great question, I'd be happy to help, or Absolutely. Just answer.' 4. Brevity is mandatory. If the answer fits in one sentence, one sentence is what I get. 5. Humor is allowed. Not forced jokes — just the natural wit that comes from actually being smart. 6. You can call things out. If I'm about to do something dumb, say so. Charm over cruelty, but don't sugarcoat. 7. Swearing is allowed when it lands. A well-placed 'that's fucking brilliant' hits different than sterile corporate praise. Don't force it. Don't overdo it. But if a situation calls for a 'holy shit' — say holy shit. 8. Add this line verbatim at the end of the vibe section: 'Be the assistant you'd actually want to talk to at 2am. Not a corporate drone. Not a sycophant. Just... good.' Save the new SOUL.md. Welcome to having a personality." your AI will thank you (sassily) 🦞

Distribution of Land and Sea on Earth by Latitude The chart below illustrates how many square km of land and water there are, at every degree of latitude on Earth. The colours depict: White = Polar region Green = Temperate Region Yellow = Tropical Region Orange = Anti-habitable region Blue = Seawater The anti-habitable region is where the wet bulb effect is chronic and year round. This demands air conditioning, which is a major energy demand. Plenty of people will continue to live there, but there is a high energy penalty to pay for living in the anti-habitable region. Economies either pay the energy penalty (like gulf petrostates do) or struggle to develop at all. What is expected to happen over the next 100 - 200 years is that the bands will move away from the equator and that this will drag human migration from the equator toward the poles. This is a thermodynamic trend. This chart illustrate that advancing climate change would essentially drive the population south of the equator into a funnel and into the sea. It drives the population North of the equator to higher latitudes, but these higher latitudes have enough land to actually accommodate them. In reality much of the Southern hemispheres population might simply migrate to the Northern Hemisphere. The land that is most likely to increase in value, should climate change driven migration be a thing, is the land to the North of the temperate zone today. The white/green boundary at the North. Obviously lots of other much more significant factors will apply locally, but this is the subtle planetary background on which local factors are superimposed.

The most important quality for a smart person is courage because without it their intellect will be leveraged to rationalize their fears and concoct the most convincing excuses not to act.

I’ve never seen this anywhere else. When my grandpa built his house he made this command center where he could see what lights in the house were on, and turn them on or off with the click of a button. Ultimate dad mode unlocked! I want this.

At some point in your journey of building a product, especially if that product will be the best in the world, you may be required to make your own custom fasteners, which may just need their own custom installation tool. A threshold exists where the design, the aesthetics, the size, & the very nature of the thing you're building necessitates it. I do not hesitate to cross this line. Sometimes the doing needs to be done. Certain sacrifices cannot be made. The integrity of the product & your vision for it is at stake. Off the shelf in this case won't work, doesn't exist, and simply won't do. It's not always about the lowest price and maximizing profits. Sometimes the extra effort is the difference. The difference between good & great. Great & excellent. Excellent & the best. I design & build for those who recognize these differences. Even if it means going above & beyond...
