UTL/RHP Finally found a few strikeout clips from our Sunday tournament in Joplin! 🎥💪 These 3 strikeouts came while I was still throwing at 75% effort as I finished my pitching recovery program. Slowing my momentum and staying within my limits has definitely been a challenge, but it was all part of the process. I'm excited to share that I'm now about cleared to throw at 100% with no pitch limit, and I have my first pitching lesson back tomorrow. Anya Martino 2028 Grad | UTL / RHP First live pitching appearance since September after 5 months recovering from elbow surgery. Got the opportunity to pickup in a one day tournament. Still limited and threw 90 pitches over 3 innings: 5K, 4BB, 1 ER (did not get film). Mentally it was tough early and I was in my head, but I settled in and found a groove by the 2nd inning. At the plate I went 1-3 with a single (video attached). Also managed to steal 2nd and home. - 7 weeks into overhand throwing progression. Throwing out to 60 feet Every session is another step forward. Finally back to pitching! Only did 25 pitches at a little less than 50% power. Definitely did wayyy better than I thought I would. 12 weeks post-op‼️ Got cleared to slowly start throwing again. First throws since surgery today, 20 throws at 30 feet, just focusing on throwing overhand and getting comfortable again. Also started hitting off the tee. 2 sets of 25 swings at around 50% power. Not gonna lie, mentally it was tough trying to get myself to throw again. ‼️Week 10 update ‼️ Got the green light to start swinging a bat today! Only doing dry swings about 50 percent power for the first 2 weeks. It’s going to be a long process, but I’ll start hitting live mid July if everything works out! Also, just two more weeks before I can start throwing 🤞. ‼️Update‼️ Currently 7 weeks post op!!! I don’t have to wear my brace anymore. PT has been twice a week, and we stated the throwers 10 program last week. Next appointment with surgeon is first week of May, and I’ll start slowly throwing and hitting then! ‼️Update‼️ After 2.5 years of playing off and on through pain, it’s time to get right. Surgery is set for Feb 10th to remove a bone fragment and repair my UCL. I’ve been a little quiet lately, so I wanted to share an update. I have had an elbow injury for a couple years now and my doctor decided it was time for an MRI after three years, and two rounds of physical therapy. Got the result back a couple of weeks ago and it wasn’t the news I was hoping for. It’s an ununited avulsion fracture of the medial epicondyle and a chronic UCL tear. Basically, my elbow needs more help than just rest. I’m currently waiting for a call from a surgeon to figure out the next steps. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but I’m ready to do whatever it takes to get back on the dirt.
