I don’t post very often but this is well worth it. A top notch tribute. I have never been a huge Sabbath fan but the metal music I listen to wouldn’t exist without their trailblazing ways, that’s for sure!

The Coldstream Guards Band performed Black Sabbath's masterpiece Paranoid outside of Buckingham Palace as a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on the day of his funeral. Don't let anybody tell you this isn't a great country. householddivision.org.uk/musicians

THE ELECTION THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING...
What caused the Labour landslide of July 1945? And how did Winston Churchill throw it all away in one simple speech?
@almurray and @James1940 talk about the Khaki Election in today's excellent episode

@HistoryPegg Our collections have definitely been earlier recently. I wonder if some weeks they’re trying to knock off early, or maybe they mix the schedule up to keep it interesting! 🧐
English

Can someone have a word with the refuse collectors. 1 week you’re scrambling down the drive at the crack of dawn in your next to nothing because the buggers turn up early. The week after they can’t be arsed to get there until after mid day. Consistency folks. Consistency. 🤣🤣 #BinDay

🎉🍾 CAMBRIDGE - WINNERS OF THE 2025 BOAT RACES!! 🍾🎉
Congratulations to @CUBCsquad Women and Reserves who won every single race today.
This completes a stunning achievement for the Light Blues, who now celebrate their fourth-ever clean sweep - victories in all six races: the Lightweight Men’s and Women’s Races, the Blue Boat Men’s and Women’s Races, and both Reserve Races. Cambridge also had historic clean sweeps in 1993, 2018, and 2023.
#CambridgeAlumni, please join us in celebrating our incredible Boat Club! 🤩

@Normandy661944 Yes, that looks like the best shout. Good work that man!

@MartynBalmont From other responses it looks like it’s the antennae case for a 38 radio set.

Can anyone tell me what this man is carrying over his shoulder? It appears to be a tapered pole (or possibly a case; in any event with a strap), perhaps with a screw thread/spike at the narrow end. Photo taken 16 July 1944.
