Christmas is just one week away, and one thing most Canadians are making do with this year – is a smaller budget. In fact, nearly half of Canadian households are planning on having a smaller holiday this year – and that includes food. With food bank use on the rise, we asked Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland what Ottawa is doing to help bring food prices down.

#Cargivers are worn out by isolation, worry & responsibility to care for their loved ones. Add in stresses of the holiday season & you have a recipe for burnout. Caregivers save #HealthSystem billions of $ a year, yet there still isn't govn't policy to formalize supports needed.

some calculations to see how much of things to put in? I'm thinking a mixture of celtic sea salt for sodium and NoSalt for the potassium. Not sure if I also need to put some magnesium in there? Maybe I could use up my mag citrate powder. Advice?

Has anyone here made their own electrolyte mix? I am spending too much money on Powerade, electrolyte mixes, and would prefer to make it myself. The ones that I see online (like the WHO) oral rehydration is WAY too salty. I mean, I guess I could do #POTS #NEISvoid

Have you been in a school lately? Despite resilient educators, this stability you speak of is not there. Extreme lack of resources, especially for students with Spec Ed needs, many of whom are excluded regularly because schools cannot support them. #onted

Thank you for your comment. Crime, crime all the time. What you need to understand is that 75-80% of all gun deaths in Canada are due to suicide. We need to look at gun violence through a Public Health lens and not just a criminal one. By the way, who stole your guns?
Mark@LefneskiMark

@alandrummond2 @CAEP_Docs It’s blatant theft. CDN gun owners are some of the most vetted ppl in Canada. Gun related crimes are 99.9% due to illegal firearms. But sure ban my handgun even though I’ve never committed a crime.

This is just wrong coming from a MoH on so many levels: 1. Many people living w/mental illness use alcohol to cope. 2. Ontarians are worried about choice & convenience of access to healthcare, not alcohol. 3. Cottage?! Millions of Ontarians cant afford a home or are homeless.
Sylvia Jones@SylviaJonesMPP

Starting no later than Jan 1, 2026, you can pick up a bottle of wine at a convenience store before a holiday party or a pack of beer or cider when heading up to the cottage. We’re delivering the kind of choice and convenience that people across Canada enjoy.

1/6 “Alcohol is a leading cause of preventable deaths, injuries, violence and illnesses.” “4K deaths, 22k hospitalizations and close to 195k ED visits due to alcohol in the province every year” And yet the Ontario Govt has decided to significantly expand alcohol retail sales.
CMHA Ontario@CMHAOntario

CMHA Ontario, @AMHOnt and @kidsmentalhlth are expressing concern over Ontario's alcohol retail sales expansion, noting that it will contribute to an increase in public health harms. Read more: ow.ly/7M2c50QiXzs

💯 percent, Maggie!! She's been pushing this since 2012! Saying "everyone wants this" is a far stretch from the truth! orangeville.com/news/it-s-time… @OPHA_Ontario @CAMHnews @maddcanada #BeerPremier @RichardCityNews @CityCynthia @siomoCTV

The Minister of Health promoting alcohol use is a new low. The kind of choice & convenience Ontarians want is having access to a #PrimaryCare team; having #EDs that aren’t regularly shuttered esp in rural areas & having a #healthcare workforce that is supported, not burned out

...and how effective will screening for minors be?? Has he ever been inside convenience stores around schools when kids are out at lunch & after school?? Will there be added security to check backpacks? /1
Michele Sparling 🇨🇦🏒🚲🥾✈️@HRisInnovative

I wonder if he spoke to the addictions and mental health organizations, families impacted by drinking and driving, MADD, police, persons living with substance use issues, etc. before deciding this? 🤷🏼‍♀️
