Last week, @fordnation and I announced the largest alcohol retail expansion since the end of prohibition almost 100 years ago. Starting no later than Jan. 1, 2026, consumers can buy beer, wine, cider & ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages at convenience, grocery & big box stores.

Happy holidays!! My colleagues @PBethlenfalvy, @MPPBarnesAjax, @lornecoe, and I would like to wish #Durham and all of Ontario a safe and happy holiday, and a wonderful new year! #onpoli #holiday #family #celebrate #christmas #happynewyear

@alandrummond2 @CAEP_Docs It’s blatant theft. CDN gun owners are some of the most vetted ppl in Canada. Gun related crimes are 99.9% due to illegal firearms. But sure ban my handgun even though I’ve never committed a crime.

Starting no later than Jan 1, 2026, you can pick up a bottle of wine at a convenience store before a holiday party or a pack of beer or cider when heading up to the cottage. We’re delivering the kind of choice and convenience that people across Canada enjoy.

Without clearly outlined goals, strategies & funding to reduce alcohol-related harms to infants, children, youth & families, this retail expansion will put additional strain on an already overloaded community mental health and addictions system. Read more: bit.ly/48kmja3

CMHA Ontario, @AMHOnt and @kidsmentalhlth are expressing concern over Ontario's alcohol retail sales expansion, noting that it will contribute to an increase in public health harms. Read more: ow.ly/7M2c50QiXzs

💯 percent, Maggie!! She's been pushing this since 2012! Saying "everyone wants this" is a far stretch from the truth! orangeville.com/news/it-s-time… @OPHA_Ontario @CAMHnews @maddcanada #BeerPremier @RichardCityNews @CityCynthia @siomoCTV

The Minister of Health promoting alcohol use is a new low. The kind of choice & convenience Ontarians want is having access to a #PrimaryCare team; having #EDs that aren’t regularly shuttered esp in rural areas & having a #healthcare workforce that is supported, not burned out

Ontario to allow beer and wine sales in convenience stores by 2026 #Echobox=1702570103" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nationalpost.com/news/canada/on…

I wonder if he spoke to the addictions and mental health organizations, families impacted by drinking and driving, MADD, police, persons living with substance use issues, etc. before deciding this? 🤷🏼♀️
