(Veel, niet alle....) Oude mensen op fietsen vind ik levensgevaarlijk. Ze rijden midden op het fietspad., schrikken zich vervolgens halfdood van een bel of van het inhalen. Fietsen halfstilstaand over rotondes en wéér midden op het pad zodat je niet kan inhalen. EN MEER.

@arentvn Interesting point! Though that simplification can be less pronounced than in Germanic dialects. When at school in Strasbourg, my teacher was surprised that I could use the German subjunctive naturally, while my local Alsatian classmates struggled with it, due to their dialect.

Dutch is (in comparison with German) a grammatically simplified language. The subjunctive/conjunctive mood is hardly used (since a century it is formed by auxiliary verbs, but they are gradually disappearing). This may be one of the reasons why Dutch moralism is rather annoying.
