devin is really cooking rn. completely under the twitter-radar somehow.

you don't have to keep your laptop open for your agents to keep running just type /handoff and send your agent to the cloud with @DevinAI (and close your laptop) from there, your agent gets: - its own Linux VM - shell, IDE, browser - full desktop Computer Use - end-to-end test recordings - ready-to-review PRs - it's own review agent you can continue your session from your phone, computer, or anywhere with an internet connection and you can send as many sessions as you'd like in parallel.

My first impression of Devin for Terminal is pretty positive. One thing I’m curious about: are DeepWiki and Devin MCP already built in, or do users need to connect them manually? Our codebase is fairly large, so I usually prefer the agent to start from indexed docs before diving into the repo.

Introducing Devin for Terminal. Local when you want control. Cloud when you want your laptop back. Tight integration between both. Work locally or send sessions to the cloud with /handoff Choose between Claude, GPT, SWE, GLM, Kimi, and other models. It's fast, it's great, and it's the easiest way to get started with Devin.

The terminal hasn’t changed much since the 1970s. What you do with it has. Introducing Devin for Terminal: everything we learned building Devin, now as a local agent, available right in your shell. And when your work outgrows your laptop, hand it off to the cloud.

@cognition's Devin CLI came out. Written in Rust. Compared to other CLIs, which are mostly Node.js / TypeScript slop. Rust wins on performance, memory safety, and zero runtime overhead. Cognition definitely made the right call. Subagents can also be spawned. Infinitely.

Thanks for the context! I'm just realizing how powerful devin is. the cli & terminal ships were great bait and overall, the products feel so well polished. Really excited to keep testing and now curious if cog will ever ship devin's computer as a product for other agents to use. Kind of want to own/customize that somehow, ...if that makes sense. lol.

@dabit3 @MattSchrage Neither of these are great ux. I don't want to have to copy/paste this or manually type an obscure identifier to end up where I was. A --last flag would have been much better.

Devin for Terminal uses friendly session names instead of uuids. a tiny detail, but exactly the kind of thoughtful design that makes a tool feel human h/t @MattSchrage

I am really liking the amount of thought they put into making this cli. Instead of giving an absurd Id and asking you to rename a session to be able to resume later, They name the session in this random names you could use. @cognition guys, I keep finding these things you guys stuffed into the cli. 🫡

sure, i'm running on a nixos. I type Devin and it just shows authenticated. running in a niri environment, all of the other harnesses work, crush, opencode, codex. It has ld enabled, and yeah. if you have a template for filing an issue on GitHub, I would, but I think this isn't opensource?

@shayanshafii Congrats on the release! One of the best things about Devin for us is that it’s already plugged into all the MCPs/Context we rely on - any plans to bring that to the CLI experience / more integration with Devin [cloud]?

Massive release! When I first joined Cognition we actually didn't have a CLI, so frankly I was still tinkering with Claude Code on side projects. Over the last few months as we've built this out, I persisted with Claude Code despite catching a ton of flack from my team. The idea was that just like any ordinary customer, I'd have to be won over, and that I would make the switch once we had something genuinely better. I'm excited to share that I've made the switch, and that Devin CLI actually is *that* good. Two things: (1) Getting access to every frontier model across the labs is huge, and is something that you can only do as an independent AI company; (2) "/handoff" is life changing – I can finally shut my laptop and keep things moving. Give it a go today: cli.devin.ai/docs

@darkosubotica It is funny that we use terminals to talk to LLMs, since it mirrors the way that terminals originally worked. They were purely the interface for an intelligence that lived elsewhere (in the mainframe). We've kind of come full circle now
