@LouStagner @larrywardgolf Augusta has added an additional 600 yards since 1990. It's disingenuous to directly compare scores decades apart without mentioning the courses also change to keep up with distance. What is the problem with rec golfers just moving up a tee box?

Winning masters score going back to 1990 are also below. You wrote: "It's about protecting venues" I asked: "Which venues? What are we protecting them from?" You wrote (11 minutes later): "Not sure I said anything about protecting" You are not sure? You should be sure now after looking at that screenshot. I can explain these things to you, but can't make you understand.

Rolling the ball back will actually INCREASE the importance of distance. I was in a group text with some friends. A few of them think distance is too important and want it to be less important. I told them that if you want to make distance less important, you'd make PGA Tour courses way SHORTER.

@Fit_For_Golf Same here, especially putting. I gain strokes up to 6 feet, way down on 6-24, and back to level at 25-40. Have you tried stack putting for that range?

Thank you. I’m still tracking data closely! Relative to the pro benchmarks on GolfMetrics, iron play and mid range putting (7-15 feet), is where I have most room to improve. Elite amateur and professional golfers are more consistent ball strikers than me. No question about that. There’s just too much variability in quality of shots. My putting stats are quite interesting. The last few years I’ve been really good from 3-6 feet, and pretty good at lag putting from outside 25 feet, but not holing enough from 7-15 feet. Most of my practice at the moment is iron play and putting. If I can raise my level there, I should see a decent improvement.

Golf Improvement Goals For 2026 ⛳️? In 2020 I got serious with my golf game. My hcp went from a 5.0 to +1.1 in 13 months, & eventually +2.6. In this article, I documented how I approached it 🏌️‍♂️ Hopefully it helps some of you 🙂 Check it out 👇🏽 fitforgolf.blog/handicap-impro…

@NoLayingUp @SashoMacKenzie If course setup stayed consistent is Sasho asserting the increase in average ball speed would eventually taper off to optimize for strokes gained? The example seems applicable for some holes, as mentioned, but others don’t have the same restriction and players can send it

What he means is something golfers struggle with trying to make the miracle chip/ pitch shot. If you’re out of position just get the ball onto the green don’t turn an easy bogey into a hard double bogey.

Get Strong For Golf & Life Rows are a great exercise option Lats, upper back, rear shoulder, biceps, forearm, grip, are all trained In this incline bench version, the support makes technique easy & cheating hard! These are big strong muscles, don’t be afraid to go heavy💪🏽

@JohnPohlsonGolf There’s almost always a pattern to find and therefore work on in your next practice session. Re-framing things from “I played terribly” to “I found a pattern to work on solving” helps keep me in the mindset of getting a little better every day.

What do you guys too after a bad range session or bad round? How do you reset? Probably just as important, if not more so, than what you do when you’re playing your best golf. Good players have a knack for bouncing back.

Issues getting stuck in your swing? Could be from movement off the golf ball. Check this drill out to help clean that up.

@chambleebrandel @NoLayingUp Are the courses the same year over year? They seem to be getting longer or implementing different methods to combat distance. Tough to compare scoring year over year unless courses remain the same.

Your quote. And, again, all athletes get faster as time goes on. The PGA Tour just has more room to make up speed than most other sports, I’d guess because they didn’t always get the biggest and best athletes, though they got some of them and also because they now train for speed and have a better understanding of where it comes from. But again, the idea that the correlation of speed to scoring average going up every year is wrong… over the last ten years there has been no change. Here is the correlation of distance to scoring average the last ten years. 20-24: 22% 15-19: 25% 10-14: 22%

Of the Top 20 in Stokes Gained total on the PGA Tour, 15 players have right at average tour ball speed (174 mph) or below. The professional game, at the highest level, is not all about speed. 1) Rory Mcilroy 184.87 2) Scheffler 175.42 3) Morikawa 171.57 4) Thomas 177.94 5) Henley 166.43 6) Lowry 172.38 7) Cauley 171.72 8) Straka 168.49 9) Berger 173.4 10) Smalley 174.27 11) Matsuyama 173.5 12) Fleetwood 172.92 13) Cantlay 176.94 14) Gerard 173.84 15) M. Here's how to know if you have a "good player" problem or a "not so good player" problem with your swing Not so good player: - Slice & pull misses due to out to in path - Not a lot of lateral shift towards target - Chicken wing to help hold the face open - Club outside the hands at P6 (last parallel) Good Player: - Block & over draw misses due to in to out path - Too much lateral shift tilting body back - Club inside the hands at P6 (last parallel) Of course, good players can suffer from slices & pulls & vice versa. However NORMALLY these are the common patterns good players have and not so good players have... If you suffer from good player problems, try hit a pull cut to fix it, if you suffer from not so good player problems, try to hook it Which one do you fall under?

I have been using a drill I got from "The Practice Manual" by @adamyounggolf The 10 ball 3/7 Drill. You pick a variable you are working on, and select parameters for it. For example, I have been working on face control. I chose face to target of ±2 degrees on the FlightScope Face to Target metric. If you get 3 or less within your chosen threshold, you must make the drill easier, more than 7, make the drill harder, 4-7 keep repping the drill until you achieve more than 7. You can do this with any variable on a launch monitor, or anything else you would like to isolate when practicing outside. The drill works because it simulates pressure, and has a natural progression either direction if it is too easy or too hard. For example, I got two misses early in my 10 ball progression. The next few balls had pressure because if I missed any of them, I would not be able to move on. We need to track our practice and put pressure on ourselves to truly improve!

Want a golf swing that looks smoother? You could be struggling with this issue that golfers have, which is they make a backswing, then stop then make a downswing. The golf swing is an athletic motion, it should for most golfers be fluid from backswing 👉 transition 👉 downswing If your sequencing is off your swing will become disconnected, remember the clubhead has the furthest to go it needs to move the fastest off in the takeaway. Don’t start your swing with ripping open the hips.

What’s the recommended workflow for building a little app from scratch these days? Is it… v0 -> o1 Pro -> Cursor composer? I’m tired of logging my golf practice in spreadsheets and want to build something simple to use track the work I put in.
