He was a leader with authoritarian instincts and habits, who attempted to stop democratic challenges, but only to the extent that it was feasible without overt violent oppression against an undeniable majority that didn’t support him anymore.

As a Catholic, I know exactly what just war doctrine teaches. It is not one-sided. So when the Pope called Trump’s Iran stance “unacceptable” and the war “madness,” Trump was right to speak up.

I’m seeing all of your comments about the photo from Saturday’s UFC event and all I can say is that I’m devastated.
I was there to see the fights and when I was walking through the venue, the Tate brothers stood up and said hello and that’s when the exchanged happened. I did not know them or about them before that moment.
I’ll never pretend to be a perfect person but let me be crystal clear, I do not know the Tate brothers nor do I support them in any way.

@Noahpinion @deepfates I think most people don’t believe it, just as most people don’t believe any of the really transformative predictions about AI. Only those who know a lot about the subject actually believe these things, which is not enough people to take meaningful collective action.

@deepfates I understand that collective action problems are difficult, but if we really all believed that facing a 25% chance of extinction, I think there are probably some powerful actors who could take some dramatic and effective actions to allay that risk.

I do think that IF there were a technology that had a significant chance of exterminating the human race, it would probably be smart to pause its development until we were very sure that its chance of exterminating the human race was very low.

For the record I think AI safety is a very real problem and that artificial superintelligence has a non-zero chance of extinguishing human life. I just don't think it's a certainty. And the way to actually create safe human AI relations is to do science, not to start a jihad

Politics has grown so extreme and polarized in America that the bases/power centers of both parties are marginal and unrepresentative of most citizens. Trump has the lowest approval rating since Nixon. These are not actually popular opinions.

@conservmillen is getting a lot of pushback for this, and some of the pushback is unfair and slanderous.
She didn’t say Trump’s post wasn’t blasphemous. In fact, in other posts, she said that it was.
And on her podcast a few days ago, she openly encouraged Christian conservative influencers to stop being afraid of calling out Trump’s relationship with false teacher, Paula White.
You can strongly disagree with her belief that Trump didn’t mean to share a blasphemous post without assuming the worst of her motives, especially because of her strong track record.
