@bryce_spalding I think they’re relying on some of the young guys returning to former form but that’s no guarantee. Steer and McLain haven’t shown they can yet, Friedl looks bad and Hayes is a guaranteed out. Throw Trevino in and 8 and 9 spots are throw away outs. It’s bad
English

@Matthew13517 Maybe, I think Sal, Geno, Elly could make them a very solid unit if everyone else performs to expectation
English

This is absolutely insane, staggering, hilarious, all the terms.
But also why I’m not totally panicking either, especially on certain guys.
It cannot be worse, genuinely.

The Reds have only two hitters performing above league average: Sal Stewart (204 wRC+) and Elly De La Cruz (121 wRC+). The rest of the club is hitting a combined .180/.257/.251 with a 45 wRC+.

@RedsDaily4 Already got to pay for reds.tv, being in another streaming service and having to pay for that too is stupid. So no thanks
English

@RedsInFour Which is why they didn’t do enough in the offseason to fill holes. Their hitting will be below average even at its best. Hopefully the pitching is good enough to make up for that
English

@bryce_spalding @IcantREED53 Never said they suck but over the last few years, the core hasn’t been enough. Hopefully Stewart, Suarez and a couple other guys prop it up but they’re still probably a below average hitting team. We knew what the teams weakness was coming into the year
English

@Matthew13517 @IcantREED53 I’m not denying that but acting like nearly every person on the offense just sucks because 13 games is insane.
They have like 11/13 offensive players playing below career averages
English

Amazing that some of you actually believe dudes that haven’t hit for 2 years will suddenly hit lol.
Bryce Spalding@bryce_spalding
8-5 start to the year. 5-2 road-trip. Feeling good. Back home. Offense needs to figure out the RISP woes. City Connect Friday with Chase Burns on the bump. Debuting new unis Saturday. Good vibes. Offense is going to breakout this homestand.
English

@bryce_spalding @IcantREED53 The hitting is obviously an issue, think we can all agree there. Which they did more in the offseason
English

@RedsInFour Everyone else looks like crap so at least they have one guy hitting
English

@theaceofspaeder Their hitting will improve some, but their pitching will probably be this good all year. Maybe not this good but one of the better staffs. That can be a winning formula.
English

@Ellydelacr10454 @BaseballWRLD_ I really don’t think average is in the cards for them, but it isn’t going to be their strength anyway. Their pitching is and as long as that’s doing great, they just need to be close to average
English

@Matthew13517 @BaseballWRLD_ Suarez has also gotten off to a cold start and Elly will go on hot streaks. There will be week where those guys carry the offense. Call up bleday and hinds and it can be average I think
English

@Ellydelacr10454 @BaseballWRLD_ Idk if it’ll be average honestly, unless some of their young guys bounce back. I do agree it’s better than last year simply because of Stewart, Suarez and Lowe as a pinch hitter or spot guy. If they can be slightly below average, they’ll be a good team.
English

@Matthew13517 @BaseballWRLD_ They’ll have an average offense when it’s all set and done. Just a rough start against elite pitching with horrible BABIP luck
English

@BaseballWRLD_ They’ve faced good pitching but aren’t a good hitting team. That being said, they have the pitching to win basically any game and are missing 2 of their best pitchers. That’s where they’ve been good so far
English

The Reds being 8-3 while having a .610 team OPS is insane lmfao

Right after the center market boomed too
Man idk about this one. He’s gotta be retiring or something else happened off the field
Literally no reason to do this right now. No roster space crunch. Just cutting him for the love of the game and creating a hole

@dotsonc I think it “looks” better because of a few timely homers. For example the Suarez 3 run homer the other day late in the game that lead to the win. But overall, their approach seems bad and they seem just a bad as the past couple years. Maybe a better hitting coach would’ve helped
English

This is a fair point.
But from my perspective, this offense looks better than last year’s, even if they haven’t shown it yet. And that 2025 team made the playoffs.
AD@AaronAtc85
@dotsonc I just don’t know where the offense is going to come from over the big 162
English

@RedsFan_Brandon @bryce_spalding Well MLB understood the shift was hurting the sport, they probably know the current version does as well. I think we will see more changes to it. Wouldn’t mind seeing a circle of area they’re restricted to. Hitting is already the hardest thing in sports.
English

@bonchieredstate @bitmaelstrom Yep, why would people want to fight for a country who won’t do everything possible like this when you get into that situation?
English

This is why Europe has been conquered.
This right here.

@bryce_spalding Doesn’t help that they’re only batting him against LHP so far really. But yeah, brutal. A bunch of guys just are bad at the moment
