Everyone Should Meet Them: WOMEN OF SPACE These four women represent different generations of space science, from paper calculations to digital systems and the exploration of other planets. Katherine Johnson: A key mathematician at NASA, she calculated orbital trajectories for historic missions. At a time when computers were still limited, her hand calculations were so reliable that astronauts asked to check the results before launch. Margaret Hamilton: She led the development of software for the Apollo program. Their work allowed the onboard computer to prioritize tasks during the Apollo 11 lunar landing, avoiding potential failure. It also helped lay the foundations for modern software development. Diana Trujillo: A Colombian aerospace engineer who participated in the Perseverance rover mission to Mars, where she led the team responsible for the vehicle's robotic arms, a critical system for collecting and analyzing high-precision Martian rock samples. She also led the first Spanish-language broadcast of the Mars landing. Christina Koch: The NASA astronaut holds the record for the longest continuous stay in space by a woman, at 328 days. She participated in the first all-female spacewalk. And recently, she became the woman who has been farthest from Earth.

@Herodotusowl @mssakshinarula Nah, she should. Representation matters and women have had to deal with a lot of oppression and barriers men have not had to face on the journey to where they are now. African American women couldn’t even vote up until 61 years ago.

@AviK739507 @mssakshinarula You should feel embarrassed by your ignorance. Look up Katherine Johnson. Her brilliance with mathematics was crucial to our first manned spaceflights. Without her orbital mechanics and trajectories we would not have gotten astronauts into space nor won the space race to the moon

@akshansh_777 @justnaddem @CultureCrave Oh, absolutely. I think the book did a great job explaining that humanity was more advanced when it came to science (computers, relativity, radiation, etc.), but Eridians were superior with engineering.

Andy Weir on the ending of 'Project Hail Mary' "I think it’s a perfect ending for Ryland because he really liked being a teacher, and in the end he gets to be a teacher and hang out with his best friend. And he’d be returning to an Earth where something like 75 years had passed since he left" "Everyone he knows back on Earth will have died. He doesn’t really have anything to go back to. But he’s got his best friend here. A job that he loves" "Why would he leave?" "I knew that was going to be the end of the novel before I started writing the first page" (via @nytimes)

@justnaddem @CultureCrave They show the habitat the Eridians built for him in the movie. Explaining it would’ve just added more time to a 2.5+hr movie. The food, while not mentioned in the movie is inconsequential to the main story.

I also can't stop thinking about how this might be the greatest missed opportunity in marketing history if Apple doesn't have a billboard of these saying "Shot on iPhone" lol NASA astronauts have been allowed to use their phones in space, and Commander Reid Wiseman and Mission Specialist Christina Koch uploaded these photos shot on an iPhone 17 Pro Max SELFIE camera

@DCdaily It’s an amazing movie and an incredible adaptation that captures the heart of the book it’s based on. If possible, see it on 70mm IMAX or any IMAX to really appreciate the cinematography and score. This is something that needs to be seen in theaters.

America was supposed to be winning... Here's what winning looks like: - Q4 2025 GDP growth collapsed to just 0.7%, down from 4.4% in Q3 - Full year 2025 growth: 2.1%, the weakest since 2020 - Inflation stuck at 2.4% annually, above the Fed's 2% target - Oil rose to ~$120/barrel, up +68% this year alone - Stocks fell for a 3rd straight week, hitting their lowest levels of 2026 - The Fed held rates at 3.50–3.75% and may not cut at all in 2026 -Unemployment has risen to 4.4% and is expected to peak at 4.6% - Moody's recession probability to cross 50% Mr. President, this is not winning.

Joe Kent is a heavily decorated combat veteran who served with the 75th Ranger Regiment and U.S. Special Forces. He served eleven combat tours, primarily in Iraq, and retired in 2018, becoming a paramilitary officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). His wife, Senior Chief Shannon M. Kent, was killed by a suicide bomber in Syria in 2019. I very much doubt that he was leaking anything, and I think it’s disgusting that members of the Trump Administration would attempt to circulate something like that without providing any kind of evidence, all because he decided to resign in protest of yet another war - which he has seen plenty of - in the Middle East.
OSINTdefender@sentdefender

Senior officials in the Trump Administration tell Fox News that Joe Kent was “a known leaker” - and was cut out of intelligence briefings with President Trump months ago. Adding that he had not been part of any Iran planning discussions or briefings at all. An official says the White House also told the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that she should fire Kent for suspected leaks, but she never had him removed as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC).
