Wrigleyville is essentially a frat house turned into a neighborhood filled with the dumbest guys from Iowa and Wisconsin and Indiana . I think them wanting to hear country music while they engage in sexual harassment makes sense

something similar has happened to Wrigleyville in Chicago — its interesting to note the cultural rise and consumption of the country music honkytonk aesthetic as trendy “going out” scene. borrowed ideas from places like Austin or Nashville reflect a trend toward southern culture in itself becoming a dominant cultural force. E.g. look at rise of country music becoming most popular genre in recent years

Did you know the City of Chicago sold the lease on one of its highways and won’t get it back until the year 2104?
Chicago took a one‑time payment of 1.8 billion dollars for the Chicago Skyway. That sounds like a huge windfall, until you look at what happened next. The private company that bought it, Cintra‑Macquarie, made all of their money back from tolls. Then they turned around and sold the Skyway lease to another private investor for 2.8 billion dollars. They walked away with a full billion‑dollar profit.
And that new investor will be collecting tolls from Chicagoans and visitors until 2104. Long after everyone involved in the original deal is gone.
It’s a pretty good example of why selling off city assets for quick cash usually ends up being a long‑term bad idea.

@CigsMake About 1,000 kids and a few of us older folks watched the band Friko blow the doors of Metro in Chicago last night. All Them Witches, Car Seat Headrest and Wednesday are all great rock bands too.

@Adyksterhouse She lived in Water Tower Place and then had a unit in a building on E. Lake Shore Dr. midway between Michigan Ave and the curve. She may have had both at the same time for a few years. That is my recollection.

Recently, many of us have seen videos floating around online of David Lee Roth having vocal issues.
So I’m curious, would you rather see a show with original members struggling to deliver the songs or a band like Foreigner that has brought in replacements but delivers a fantastic show where the songs sound great?

I’ve written quite a bit of my experiences on the Blue Line. Tons of people said I was exaggerating. I’d like to point out that this story is “this afternoon”. Literally in the middle of the day. You should see what it’s like at 4:30 a.m.
