@EnthusiAdams Great idea. I don’t understand the vitriol here. Non-G5 teams still make the big dance, but if they lose in the first or second round they still have the opportunity to play for this new NIT championship along with 25-28 other low and mid-majors in mid-week games. I’d watch.

Due to the huge $$$ divide for all conf below the Big $$$ 5. The NIT should become the National Championship for all conferences below the 5 major conferences. Start NIT Tuesday after first NCAA tourney weekend. All mids who lose in the NCAAT can join NIT bracket (32 teams).

@sportspartizan IU and SLU alum here. Pure speculation, but Schertz made an interesting move to SLU and the extension. I think he knew SLU was a better step for him than a low level power 5 job. He’s patient and waiting to a top-level power 5 program opportunity while he builds SLU.

1. I still have faith in DDV. 2. Josh Schertz brought his son to Assembly Hall to watch IU for fun in 2024. 3. I am still devastated we didn't get Dusty. 4. If IU doesn't make the tourney next year, we have to pivot and get Schertz.

@WestPineBills Follow the IU-Cignetti model… find the right coach, commit resources to the program and fill seats. If he leaves after another year or two SLU has proven its commitment to a higher level program that can attract a higher level coach and player talent.

Per multiple sources , part of the appeal SLU is making inclues a MASSIVE increase in NIL, bringing the total pool on par with many reported Big East programs from this year. SLU is not messing around in trying to keep Josh Schertz.

K-State has made contact with Schertz but he will not be coaching there next year. Out of the mix there. Saint Louis is in the midst of presenting a huge contract upgrade to try and keep Schertz around for at least another season, sources said.

@BobMoats @JUhlTrucker @TheMopLady I’d love to hear you guys compare IU to SLU (my second team) and what Schertz is doing. To my eyes it’s similar with better roster construction, similar talent and against lower level competition. SLU is a great watch (as was ISU), IU needs dudes and it could be similar.

@JUhlTrucker @TheMopLady You can see on both ends and how it *could* be effective with higher level dudes. His recruiting landed some guys who are HM guys. He now needs to invest in portal guys who can compete at this level. I think he can be very good at what he does...just needs to get the guys.

If consistently competing for Big Ten championships and playing past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament is an unrealistic expectation then we should immediately start dumping a considerable amount of our basketball budget into football.

I’m not an “I told you so” guy, but there are people in the comments who were against this -SLU is the hottest mid major rn -VCU has zero (0) bad losses so far -Dayton has been talked about for years If the Big east wants more bids, this is the most realistic route.

Add more basketball schools and split into divisions for scheduling purposes. (Wichita State, Richmond, St. Joe’s possibly too) Simple problems have simple fixes.

@moneylinemac_ Bad take all around. SLU is garbage outside of this year. Plus coach is gone. VCU has only made one Tournament run in program history and hasn’t been consistent in the last 5 years. Dayton continues being terrible in conference play and does nothing in tourney.

While there is a lot of focus on the charge - and there certainly is an arm extension - the real issue I see here is call the first foul. There are multiple swipes and reaches prior to the charge. Indiana, at this point, is trying to foul. If you call first foul, resolves this.
