@Mawfred63 Its bloody typical when you just want a nice wee paddle! Seriously most are moon jellyfish and unless you have sensitive skin/allergies do not sting. Increasingly we’re seeing large barrel jellyfish, have some lions mane & spotted a small blue jellyfish round the coast.

@KHarveyProctor @scott_mills @BBC Completely agree. Police investigated, CPS reviewed the file, and dropped the case for lack of evidence. Now the @BBC sacks him anyway. That sets a worrying precedent where suspicion alone can destroy a career.

I am deeply concerned by the @scott_mills story, following his sacking by @BBC. Mills was allegedly investigated by the Metropolitan Police, with a file handed to the CPS who decided there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. If an individual can be investigated, cleared of prosecution due to insufficient evidence, & still face professional ruin, then we are entering dangerous territory. Institutions must be very careful not to substitute due process with reputational expediency. Justice cannot operate on suspicion alone, nor can fairness be preserved if allegations—untested in a court of law—are treated as proof. We must ask ourselves: are we upholding justice, or quietly dismantling it?

@Cadmarch It’s not in your eyes. It’s your brain. If you close your eyes you can still ‘see’ them. For me it was linked to hormones I think. If it happens when I’m driving I pull over and wait it out. It usually lasts 20-30 mins. Mine occur in clusters.

If you see a diabetic developing serious symptoms (confusion, shaking, sweating) and you're not sure if it’s because of high/low blood sugar, give them some sugar first if they're still conscious while trying to get to the hospital. Low blood sugar kills fast but high blood sugar won't be significantly worsened by a small sugar dose. When in doubt, give sugar.

@Iancampbell1967 I avoided underground trains, then trains, then buses. Anywhere I felt confined. Eventually I had to face up to it. Now I’m mostly fine but only because I faced my demon!

@Iancampbell1967 I think mine was triggered when I was in a cinema years ago and could smell smoke. I got a rush of adrenaline and a fright/flight response. My theory is my body learned that response and it was triggered in enclosed spaces eg underground trains etc.

I’ve had some comments yesterday and today. They are saying things like man up, the world doesn’t owe me a living or attention seeking. I wouldn’t knock these people. They don’t understand about anxiety or are misinformed. I hope they look into how anxiety can affect people.

A few people have asked for my son’s name; it was John Charles — we called him J.C. — and we named him after his grandfathers.

My son died. I know he didn't contribute anything to mankind — he was only two months old — but I like to believe he was destined to do something good for humanity. It's been a while since his death, and I hate to dwell on it so publicly, but I wanted you to know him.
