We do know that Troy existed, and we do know the basic ethnic makeup of the inhabitants of the Aegean in this period. Is getting their ethnic makeup correct the most important part of the story? No. The story is the most important part of the story. Does it matter? Kind of. In the world we live in where folks screech about minority characters only being played by minority actors-but minority actors can play non-minority characters-and the like, it matters because they’ve made it matter. Does Nolan care about any of this? I doubt he even knows any of this discussion is happening. He casts actors because he likes them or wants to work with them. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s less great. It’s always interesting, though

update: the schizo black guy who assaulted me has now self-identified as Indigenous and will be going through a special court where a judge is required to consider the impact of colonialism when determining his sentence and reduce it accordingly. :)

WELL I was assaulted by a schizo homeless guy today in Toronto. I was walking to the grocery store when he started stalking me. I tried to get away from him but it didn’t work. He grabbed me, pinned me against a fence, and then tried to break my hand to steal my phone. Three people passing by helped save me. The police were quick and kind, but the officer I spoke with told me this guy had been arrested for attacking people repeatedly in the past month, and “fair warning, a judge will probably let him out by tomorrow morning.” 🫠 lovely system we got goin on here folks

@nonregemesse I had no idea they were writing new James Bond books and setting them in the contemporary era. I remember reading a Bond short story in a magazine maybe about 1990, set contemporaneously, but Bond was an old man looking for someone who'd murdered his adult son.

@HoleDigger2016 @bonchieredstate Also, it's the unattended or intentionally set fires that seem to be the biggest problem. If briquets or propane on somebody's back patio turns into a problem, there will be a 911 call and it won't take long.
