@rbarbosa91 @TopKniFe_B @karimbrohi @docmartin22 @trasmussen_md Similar situation for rib fxr fixation. Enthusiasm overtook reason/experience/critical thinking. I never envisioned rib fxr repair would become so overused. It's sad to see enthusiasts and device companies misapply something good.

UK-REBOA results:
REBOA increased mortality at 90 days and at all interim time points.
REBOA increased deaths due to bleeding at 3 hours and 90 days.
REBOA substantially delayed time to definitive haemorrhage control.

People that say this miss the value that an Acute Care Service can/SHOULD bring to patients/hospitals and elective surgeons. The downstream revenue of a HPB surgeon who doesn’t have to do EGS is significant AND patients benefit from timely care. Win-win!

If the trauma/ACS division is taking all of the emergency general surgery workload, thus freeing your division up to spend its days cranking out preapproved high-RVU elective cases, you’d better not go on about how ACS isn’t pulling its financial weight for the department.
