@scotus_wire I’m confused, how did obama get to appoint a judge in Utah? What happened to the blue slips?

I realize no one cares about facts when they just want to attack others, but Louisiana has not started early voting. Georgia started early voting last week. The Supreme Court case of Purcell v Gonzales prohibits Georgia from suspending its election now that voting has started.

Tale of 3 GOP Govs: Gov Landry (LA): Immediately calls special session & suspends May 16 primary Gov Reeves (MS): Immediately calls special session despite their primary already happened in March Gov Kemp (GA): Sry can’t do anything bc our primary is May 16 (same day as LA)

After the Supreme Courts historic VRA decision, these states could immediately call special sessions to redistrict. And what are their GOP Governors doing? @GovMikeKehoe (MO): celebrating beef month @GovBillLee (TN): touring Edgar Evans state park @henrymcmaster (SC): celebrating Stem Signing Day @GovernorKayIvey (AL): meeting with ALEA leaders @GovKemp (GA): celebrating Small Business Week 🤦‍♀️

If any significant changes happen following today’s decision, it’s likely gradual and might not be a factor until a time period with a different presidential administration, congress, etc
Alex Angle@alexangle_

Gov. Kay Ivey declines to call special session for redistricting in light of Alabama’s appeal to SCOTUS on its map. #ALPolitics “While we are not in position to have a special session at this time, I hope in light of this new decision, the court is favorable to Alabama.”

@AustinHoney30 I mean considering California is one of the most expensive states this shouldnt be an issue. If we want a popular vote system. We cant wait on California to take a month in the event its that close.

Michael Heldman is off to the Saints, Jordan Kwiatkowski to the Patriots. Here’s these two working together this past fall for a defensive TD! Heldman the hit ➡️ JK the TD. Two hard-working guys that now get their chance in the NFL! #FireUpChips

So CA and TX offset, VA and FL offset, UT and NC offset, OH relies on Kaptur and Landsman losing… Is MO the only real gain during the redistricting wars? Still pending court rulings on the amendment veto

Let me explain what just happened in Virginia. Yesterday, 2.5 million Virginians voted. They passed a redistricting amendment 50.7% to 49.3%. Today, one judge threw out every single vote. 🧵

Based on projected finishes from several outlets, the Virginia Redistricting Referendum now appears to be tracking closely with recent polling. If current estimates hold, the final margin will likely land near where most late polls had it.
