@MdSuster PA-like tumors of breast are vanishingly rare and are typically bland and well-circumscribed. Unlike salivary gland, it is unknown if either PLAG1 or HMGA2 are found in breast. This lesion was 8 cm, and by histology markedly atypical and irregular.

Photo finish! 🏁 The answer was metaplastic carcinoma—matrix-producing variant. The differential with pleomorphic adenoma is tough, especially on core biopsy 😰, but necrosis and poor circumscription point to malignancy. #PathX #PathTwitter #breastpath

@uwlabmedpath @PazOrellanaJara 4) I think of mainly 3 other lesions when I see corded/nested pattern and myxoid stroma. Location and ancillary tests are helpful to support one or the other. #BSTPath #PathTwitter . I hope that helps!
