@ThomasBLarson @ksorbs Oh, if only that would work. The problem is that elections aren't won by those most qualified, because they are voted in by those that will feel they've lessened their own "racism" or "prejudice" by GIFTING these positions to people who look good in the photo.

We all have passions and we all LIVE LIVES. Some eventually get frustrated enough to become politically active. As they learn, they see what a complex BEAST our "Government" has become. The beast believes EVERY ASPECT of activity MUST BE OVERSEEN, known of, regulated and inspected to ensure that it is "SAFE". They begin to see the entity for what it has become, NOT what it was intended to be. The instant they learn that a "Legislator" only makes 50K / year, that rational-minded skilled professional considers their own income. Combined with a spouse who is ALSO a skilled professional, and in recognition of the REDUCTION IN INCOME that would result from a choice to BECOME politically active, they quietly return to the Grind. This leaves essentially two remaining pools from which the legislative 'types' come from - the "Made" and the "Yet to be Made". The "Yet to be made" crowd - Academics and Theorists. The "Made" crowd - those that chose a direction and began WORKING. If you want GOOD Legislators, make it a prize worth fighting for, enough so that GENUINELY SKILLED and accomplished members of society take notice.

I tried to kill myself too after I was raped. I am so happy now that my family fought for me and helped me get to a better place. It took years before I felt normal. I still have issues, but I thank G-d for blessing me with people who would not give up on me. Seems like she had someone too. It is unfortunate Spain signed off.
