I have spoken with the White House and with DHS Secretary Noem about the ICE operations. I asked Secretary Noem to pause the operations in both Maine and Minnesota. I believe they should be reviewed and far more targeted in their scope. I have also called for an independent investigation into the tragic shooting of Alex Pretti. At this time of heightened tensions, these steps are necessary to help improve trust, accountability, and safety.

Tragic that Alex Pretti lost his life. I need to understand why would a RN/Medical Professional carry a loaded weapon with 2 ammo clips into a highly charged area? Any rational person can protest or just stay away from the violence. However, why would he create a disturbance with law enforcement? Much to learn from the cell phone, text messages and Signal Chat. Maybe that will offer some clues? Thank you.
