Dear @TheStarKenya @StandardKenya @CapitalFMKenya @NationMediaGrp, @KTNNewsKE, @K24Tv, @PeopleDailyKe and @citizentvkenya,
By now, your reporters may have noted that there are systematic legislative and policy developments, touching on Kenya's agricultural and medical industries, being proposed by various government agencies and departments.
Suddenly, there are attempts at controlling, usurping and influencing who is "licensed" to plant and who is "licensed" to rear farm animals - in spite of the fact that some of these practices are as cultural as they are subsistent.
Many like ourselves are concerned that there may be a force, or ill-intentioned conspiracy, to surrender Kenya's sovereignty, as regards farm and crop production, to the commercially rabid whims of powerful multinationals.
These multinationals are known to have strong lobbying powers within governments the world over, and are involved in dangerous commercial agriculture practices that also include GMO.
Thus we regard with great suspicion moves by the Kenyan government to push for certain legislations that seem to favour foreign entities.
What is the compelling logic, for example, behind making it illegal for a peasant farmer to sell organic seed to her neighbour? Who is behind the push for Kenya to embrace GMO? Why is it that the Kenyan government has suddenly seen need to award "licenses" for keeping farm animals? Why are bamboo trees mysteriously being spirited to areas not indigenous to them?
Why can't the government take over ownership of Kenya Seed Company - which is among parastatals set to be privatized - and hold it in sovereign trust for all Kenyans?
Could there be a connection between some of the foregoing initiatives and CSs who previously worked for foreign companies that have an interest in food and drugs research?
Whatever the case, we believe, and are convinced, that there are powerful foreign hands pulling the strings from the shadows, supported by indifferent, subservient, or perhaps compromised government officials.
We urge the Fourth Estate to be on the scent of these goings-on and patriotically carry out their own investigations in the public interest.
There is little, if anything, to show that recent policy or legislative initiatives by the ministries responsible for agriculture and health are designed to promote national interest.
To the contrary, those initiatives seem like well laid plans by (mostly foreign) shadowy powers to sacrifice our health and wealth on the altar of their profits.
