#DYK nurses and #midwives are central to Primary Health Care and are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see. They are vital to their local communities and can shape and deliver effective interventions to meet the needs of patients and families.

Traditional midwives can be great allies in efforts to improve women's health in remote areas. Since 2021, PAHO has trained over 1,000 midwives to identify warning signs in pregnancy and has promoted respect for cultural practices during childbirth in health centers. @CanadaDev
