Plastic bans for Canada… plastic cups for Coachella. Former Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau is being labeled a hypocrite for partying with red solo cups at Coachella alongside girlfriend Katy Perry after he led a nationwide effort to ban single-use plastics in Canada while he was in office.

So many Conservatives have crossed the aisle that the a special election tipped the Canadian Liberal party into a majority. US Dems could learn a lot from Carney. Very 90s style Democrat. Pro business & economy. Is not performative about his values, but if you come after those rights, he will fuck you up. And he is able to build coalitions on sensible policy because he doesn’t stick to hardline populist talking points that are “all or nothing” he is willing to always set the expectation of achieving a middle ground that moves things forward, rather than getting nothing by pursuing absolutism.

At Beaumont-Hamel on the first day of the Battle of the Somme - July 1, 1916 - The Newfoundland Regiment paid a terrible price. Of 801 soldiers who went "over the top," only 68 answered roll call by day's end. At the site of that slaughter, an iconic bronze statue stands watch.

@kaitlancollins He has proven he will back down if he faces significant pushback. If only millions of Americans would voice their opposition to some of his more outlandish policies, the world might be in a better state right now. For now, we wait.

It appears as if Trump has deleted his post portraying himself as Jesus after facing some backlash from his own supporters.

@erinotoole @VespaHope @PierrePoilievre The CPC doesn't know what it stands for anymore. Hasn't for some time now. The historical values it used to represent has been steamrolled by the idea that we have to be a vassal for US interests, even to our own detriment. That's really the only conviction they have now.

@unusual_whales How TF does maga reconcile this shit with what Trump and his cronies have done over the last year? Stupidest motherf*ckin people on the planet and it's not even close. Actually terrifying to live next to the insanity that is the US now.

@brockpierson Largely because Trump's whole second term thus far has been implementing absolutely insane foreign policy that reverberates around the world. Like are you fucking dense, or do you all share a single brain cell down there?

@realtrumpstein What choice do we have? The US made the decision to violate the deals we have in place. These are the consequences. We can remain exposed and vulnerable to your volatile politics, or we can forge our own way, decreasing our reliance on an unreliable "partner".

On April 12, 1980, Terry Fox, accompanied by his friend Doug Alward, dipped his right leg into the Atlantic Ocean at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It began the Marathon of Hope and turned Fox into a Canadian hero and icon. This is the story. 🧵 1/15

@Vivian_Tracci @mario81818181 @allenanalysis Even Trump said it's off the table my guy. Admitted the US wouldn't achieve any of their objectives in the 3.5 yrs left of his term, not to mention the US military who have repeatedly said it would be an untenable operation. Go tend to the dumpster fire country you have.

Canada’s Prime Minister just announced the end of the era of sending 70% of defense spending to the United States. The crowd gave him a standing ovation. America’s closest ally — shared border, shared culture, decades of integrated defense — just drew a line in front of a cheering crowd.

@yegwave Seriously, wtf were we thinking all these decades. 70% of defence spending going to one country who can't keep track of the trillions of dollars it takes in every year., or meet contractual obligations on time. It's not even partisan, it's pragmatism.
