🎉📚DRUMROLLS PLEASE 🔖🎊 I am delighted to begin this new year with some epic news! My magnum opus—ten years in the making—THE MAN WHO LOST INDIA is now out on pre-order—amzn.eu/d/dUrJlih Please do show the novel some love by ordering the book, sharing the news on social media, and Chinese whispering it to your friends!
Simon & Schuster India ✨@SimonSchusterIN

Pre-order @MeghnaPant's 'The Man Who Lost India' now! The year is 2032. China declares war on India. Pillage and plunder ensues. The war comes to an abrupt halt when a supernatural event saves the obscure town of Lalbag from annihilation. Even as China renews its efforts to invade Lalbag, a greater calamity awaits this sleepy town. A Chinese cop stumbles upon a dangerous secret that threatens to end the town’s immunity. A fierce and forbidden love between a servant and his mistress destroys two families. Meanwhile, the town’s richest man becomes afflicted with a terrible disease, the town beauty goes mad when her love betrays, and a psychic turns water into blood, sending the town and its people deeper into tragedy. A dystopian never-been-done-before tale set in – and between – China and India, The Man Who Lost India is a powerful portrayal of love, strife and family in the wake of the 21st century’s biggest war. Incantatory and atmospheric, this is Meghna Pant’s most ambitious novel yet, full of beauty, bloodshed and undeniable feminist power. #TigervsDragon #TheManWhoLostIndia #WaroftheCentury #MeghnaPant #preorder #preordernow @GulPanag

@MeghnaPant @thetribunechd Excellent article. Two female attorneys stirred animosity towards women seeking alimony or child support. They labelled women as gold diggers and made it a trend. Sharing fabricated cases of abusive women and highlighting them as if they are more common has created substantial 1

Twisha Sharma is dead. Another woman reduced to a headline, another family destroyed, another comment section asking: “But what about men?” My latest for @thetribunechd — “The forest is burning, but men want to talk about one tree.” This isn’t a gender war. It’s a crisis of empathy. Read here: tribuneindia.com/news/comment/t…

While speaking at the launch of her own new book, 'The Constitution is my Home', Senior Advocate Indira Jaising said that she has always maintained that when it comes to the issue of violence against women, they find more justice when they are dead than alive. Four hours at the Passport Office Mumbai @rpomumbai with my minor daughter for her passport renewal because the father’s signature isn’t there. FOUR HOURS of zero clarity, zero empathy, zero system. My child is hungry, exhausted, sitting on a plastic chair in a sea of chaos while officials keep sending us from one counter to another with no answers. Why is a single mother still treated like a suspicious exception instead of a parent? Why is a child being punished because the system cannot handle families that don’t fit a perfect template? Absolute humiliation, overcrowding, indifference, and no accountability. Passport Office Mumbai seriously needs to do better for single parents and children. This is really not a country for single mothers.

Meghna, well said. Having dealt with matrimonial disputes and examined firsthand records in police files, both in women’s dispute resolution cells and the relevant case files at police stations, it is clear that interference by family elders with controlling personalities destroys the marriages of young couples. Such elders feel they have every right to manipulate and control the lives of married couples, often with serious consequences. I am not denying that there are other compatibility issues, but most cases end in separation or divorce, rarely in unnatural deaths. In the case of Tawisha Sharma’s unnatural death, Giribala Singh’s statements indicate she was directly involved in meddling in the lives of a young married couple and tried to intimidate the daughter-in-law. It seems as if she is the GeneratorOperatorDestroyer. Sorry to say, but it looks that way.

Giribala Singh isn’t your evil-saas prototype from old TV serials, stirring kheer and plotting in the kitchen. She is the upgraded 21st century version: English-speaking. Educated. Respected. Legally aware. Powerful. Her violence is no longer loud. It is strategic. Documented. Sanitised. And that’s what makes marriage terrifying for young women today.

In his first interview, Twisha Sharma’s army officer brother Major Harshit Sharma spoke to me tonight on @NDTV. I asked him everything, including the things Twisha’s mother-in-law has been saying. This is not easy to watch.

I realised that Twisha’s case is more horrifying to us because it’s a warning. Women don’t just fight abusers anymore. They fight influence, access, connections, anticipatory bail, and reputational assassination. When those sworn to uphold the law start weaponising it for personal protection, justice becomes a private club. Defenders of the law cannot become its private beneficiaries. This is exactly when @NCWIndia @CBIHeadquarters @India_NHRC @indSupremeCourt must step in, before public trust dies completely.

Never marry in a family that has top lawyers/Judge/IAS/IPS etc if you don’t come from similar family. God forbid, if something goes wrong in the marriage, you would never get justice in India.

The 21st century has finally found its evil MIL. The vacuum left behind by Lalita Pawar and Ramola Sikand has now been magnificently filled by Giribala Singh. The victim-blaming. The character assassination. The complete lack of empathy. The manipulation. The fake crocodile tears while pretending to be the victim. Emotional terrorism wrapped in silk sarees and sanctimony. Indian screens were truly starving for a woman this committed to ruining other women’s lives.
