On the last day of Black History Month, I went downtown to see something for myself. Last year, the Black Pan-African flag flew at the Kansas City City Hall and the Downtown Kansas City Jackson County Courthouse. Today, it does not at the direction of one man. The only thing that has changed is our interim county executive—It’s Phil Levota. Jackson County turns 200 years old. The first county courthouse in Independence was built by a slave. That history matters. Black history is not optional here—it is foundational to who we are. ❤️🖤💚 As activists, we learn to judge politicians not by what they say, but by what they do. When history is erased, people notice—and it speak volumes. No thriving community moves forward by erasing its past. 🇺🇸 We deserve a county legislature that’s going to stand up, speak out, and ensure our community remains inclusive, diverse, and forward-thinking. That’s not currently happening in this seat or on the entire legislature—like Washington and Congress, they’ve seeded power to the President. The President has not been granted congressional approval for these acts of war. At the least, this administration must immediately answer to Congress on its objectives, legal justification, and plans to prevent the unnecessary death of American service members.

For decades, the Iranian regime has killed its own citizens, robbed them of their freedom, funded regional terrorism, and contributed to global instability. I believe in the Iranian people’s right to self-determination and am committed to Iran never developing nuclear weapon capabilities.

I’m concerned this won’t hold up in the courts. BTW, if Reps are pushing a bill that they know is unconstitutional and will be struck down we need to start over. Congress will officially serve no purpose. Suggestion: Seems like a (free) government issued Voter Photo ID would be a better, more practical, secure solution. Federal government, through counties issue an encrypted Photo Voter ID- potentially with biometrics like fingerprint to all people born in the US and naturalized citizens 18 years old or older. Encryption and bio-metrics would make the ID valid for life. I know it’s late in the game but I just thought of it and it seems like it would address all the issues + have a better chance of standing up to constitutional challenges.
