@C2Antiquity @Alex_Ortodoxie I hate interdenominational apologetics these days. It's too much noise for me lol. Glad you guys are making a response to this though. I hope all of us Christians can just get it all figured out in the future sometime, good grief.

BREAKING: Mamdani’s City Council Threatens to Expel Elected Councilwoman Over “Islamaphobic” Posts For the first time in the council's history, an elected official has been charged with ethics violations over protected speech. Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (@VickieforNYC) is potentially facing fines, censure, or even expulsion due to her X posts regarding Islam, according to Councilwoman Paladino’s Att. Jim Walden (@JimforNYC). While allowing other council members to get away with similar, or more inflammatory conduct, Mamdani’s city council is using unprecedented lawfare to encroach upon Paladino’s First Amendment rights. Councilwoman Paladino is now suing the City Council and, regardless of the outcome, this is a classic case of “the process is the punishment.” This story is developing.

@zuck_elon @DominusAD78 @crowe_justinp Ironically, it's Protestants who choose traditions of random men over the clear teaching of scripture. This is arrogance. Baptism is effective because God ordained it to be. The Spirit literally works through these waters. Arrogant man rejects this truth for rationalsim.

The issue isn’t arrogance — it’s what Scripture actually says about justification. The Bible says God saves the ungodly, not people who earn grace through sacraments: “To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4:5) Salvation is explicitly said to be not of works: “For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9) And Scripture identifies what that faith rests on: “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood.” (Romans 3:25) The moment someone believes, they receive the Spirit: “In whom ye also trusted… after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” (Ephesians 1:13) That’s why people in Acts received the Holy Spirit before baptism (Acts 10:44–48). Baptism is an important act of obedience, but the apostles never taught that a sacrament justifies a sinner. Justification comes through faith in Christ’s finished work alone.

@DominusAD78 @zuck_elon @crowe_justinp Thank you. It's exactly this unfounded arrogance of the sola scriptura crowd who crumble when faced with clear scripture on baptism, just for one example, that helped lift the veil from my Protestant eyes. I'm Orthodox now, thank God!

You can run it through ChatGPT all you want. I can use it too. The difference is the Catholic position has two thousand years of Christian history on its side. You say “John 3:5 isn’t about water baptism.” That’s a modern interpretation. The earliest Christians reading Greek didn’t read it that way. Justin Martyr- 150 AD explicitly connects John 3:5 to baptism. Irenaeus of Lyons does the same in the 2nd century. Tertullian says the same in the early 200s. In other words, the Christians closest to the apostles understood “born of water and Spirit” as baptism. Your “natural birth vs spiritual birth” reading shows up way later. You also said 1 Peter 3:21 explains itself. It does. Peter literally says: “Baptism now saves you.” He clarifies that it’s not about washing dirt off the body. Of course it isn’t. Christians never believed the power was in the water itself. The power is Christ’s resurrection working through the sacrament. That’s exactly what Peter says. And notice something else. Every time the apostles preach the gospel in Acts, belief and baptism are joined together. Acts 2:38 “Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins.” Acts 22:16 “Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins.” Romans 6:3–4 “We were buried with Him through baptism into death.” So the New Testament doesn’t treat baptism as a symbolic ritual after salvation. It treats it as the moment a believer is united to Christ’s death and resurrection. The real issue here isn’t faith vs works. Catholics agree salvation is by grace through Christ’s sacrifice. The question is whether Christ uses means to apply that grace. The apostles said He does. And historically, the entire early Church agreed with them. So ChatGPT won’t save you here either. Because the earliest Christians didn’t believe baptism was “just getting wet.” They believed exactly what the Bible says: Baptism now saves you. 1 Peter 3:21.

DHS hasn't shown itself to be a consistently reliable narrator. The word choice here gives me pause. “Approached with a 9mm” does not tell us whether the firearm was drawn, displayed, or even known to officers at the time of the encounter. Reserving judgment, but I’m concerned.

The major point that turns me off about Orthodoxy is the fact that, when you become Orthodox, it isn't just saying, "this is the liturgy and church worship I prefer. Yours is still good and valuable." Every year on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, they literally have to chant "anathema!" to anyone who doesn't hold to all the canons and anathemas of the 7 ecumenical councils (including icon and relic veneration), the perpetual virginity of Mary, etc., or who hold to heresies like those condemned in the same councils and western doctrines like the Filioque (i.e., the belief that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and Son, whereas Eastern Orthodoxy dogmatically believes he proceeds from the Father alone). It is literally saying that any Christian who holds to western doctrines on God or doesn't affirm everything they do about Mary, the Orthodox church being the one holy catholic and apostolic church, etc., are cut off from God and the church. So as soon as you become Orthodox, you basically need to realize that your friends are all in serious spiritual danger. Apart from some extra normative miracle, their Lutheran, Evangelical, and Catholic friends are on the path to hell for believing a false God and not receiving all the truly valid and saving benefits of the Sacraments. (I know many Orthodox give vague possibilities about a mystical union with the church apart from the visible worship and Sacraments, etc., but I think the consistent understanding of their truth claims is that you're either visibly in their church and have received their Sacraments or you are on the path to hell) So while I still think they're Christian, if consistently applying their theology and liturgy, they don't think we are truly Christian.

Joel Berry is a good example of what Christians in the Holy Land have had to endure for so long. For decades, we have been accused by Western Christians of being Islamist, “dhimmis,” or fake Christians for the mere act of caring about our Christian community and protecting our faith. Christians of the Holy Land have faced decades of challenges without compromising their faith, and will continue to do so.
Joel Berry@JoelWBerry

Two things I’ll say about this statement from the Patriarchs in Jerusalem that Huckabee is too diplomatic and gracious to say himself: 1) Without the protection of Zionism, they’re dead. Their churches burned, holy sites destroyed, their women raped, and their congregations beheaded by Islamists. 2) The Patriarchs in Jerusalem have openly admitted to cooperating with Hamas and PA propaganda in exchange for protection in Gaza and the West Bank. They know Israel’s protection is unconditional, but Palestinian protection is conditional on them taking public stances on Israel like this. Pizzaballa admitted this himself. The previous Patriarch, Sabbah, was even worse—a supporter of Palestinian Intifada and a Hamas apologist. This statement must be seen in that context. I wish Catholics and Orthodox brothers I otherwise respect would stop taking statements like this from a heavily compromised church leadership in Jerusalem at face value. In the comments, I will link to an article from a Catholic Journal outlining the Jerusalem Catholic church’s history of corruption and compromise with Islamic terror in exchange for protection.

In response to the statement of non-evangelical churches in Israel, I issued the following. I hope you will read prayerfully. I love my brothers and sisters in Christ from traditional, liturgical churches and respect their views, but I do not feel any sect of the Christian faith should claim exclusivity in speaking for Christians worldwide or assume there is only one viewpoint regarding faith in the Holy Land.  Personally I’m part of a global and growing evangelical tradition that believes the authority of Scripture and the faithfulness of God in keeping His covenants.  That includes His covenant with Abraham and the Jewish people.  My Christian faith is built on the foundation of Judaism and without it, Christianity would not exist.  Without the Judeo-Christian worldview, there would be no Western Civilization, and without Western Civilization, there would be no America.  The thought that God is even capable of breaking a covenant is anathema to those of us who embrace Holy Scripture as the authority of the church.  If God can or would break His covenant with the Jews, then what hope would Christians have that He would keep His covenant with us? Labels such as “Christian Zionism” are too often used in a pejorative manner to disparage free-church believers, of which there are millions across the planet.  Christians are followers of Christ and a Zionist simply accepts that the Jewish people have a right to live in their ancient, indigenous, and Biblical homeland.  It’s hard for me to understand why every one who takes on the moniker “Christian” would not also be a Zionist.  It’s not a commitment to a particular government or government policy, but to the Biblical revelation as given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  In my faith, there is certainly room for those who “butter their bread” differently than me, and I would hope that there would be room in the hearts of other church bodies for me.  We need to unite in those truths that should be agreed upon, such as the sanctity of life, the sacred act of marriage, the autonomy of the individual, the desire to lift up every human and alleviate human suffering, and the belief that grace is God’s gift to us all. Please share with others and "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!"

@Stevieb8081 @ComeHometoRome No Christian ever held your view of the Church before your judaized reformers came on the scene. @MericanMomgrel @ComeHometoRome Yes, the Church is Christ’s Body, but Scripture shows it’s defined by His Word, not man made tradition. Paul calls it the “pillar of truth” the community holding God’s Word, not an institution adding doctrines above Scripture.

@Stevieb8081 @ComeHometoRome Is the Church not the Body & fullness of Christ? Did Christ not promise to guard His Church so that hell would not prevail against it? Did Paul not say that the Church is the pillar and ground of all truth? Or do you follow a man's tradition who teaches it's just an institution?

@ComeHometoRome Blaming Protestantism ignores Rome’s own problem, the Roman Catholic Church defined Scripture by fallible councils, then demands submission to them. Saying Rome “gave” Scripture replaces God’s authority with an institution, exactly what Christ rebuked.
