I'm starting to see potential for the upcoming heatwave to be potentially record breaking for May. The UKV 03z and now 15z are showing 33-34C in the south east on Sunday/Monday. The current May record is 32.8C in 1944. Long overdue to be beaten!

A big warmup coming up this week! Today temperatures are struggling to climb above 13-15C, but by the weekend southeast England could see the first 30C in May since 2005. Increasingly likely the heat will last into next week as well! #ukweather

This is goodbye 👋 I have been giving this a lot of thought over the past couple of months and I’ve decided, due to changing circumstances that I will no longer be updating this account or any other accounts. It’s been a lot of fun over the past 8 years I’ve been on this platform and I’ve learned a significant amount about weather and forecasting, thank you for following along and joining in and I hope my updates over the years have proven useful. In my mind, the landscape for weather information is shifting and accounts like mine are becoming less useful or relied upon in the way they once were. The rise of misinformation and personal attacks directed by idiots, towards those who post “red maps” and discuss weather mean that this hobby is no longer fun, it’s become rather tedious and I’ve always said when it stops being fun then it’s time to stop. I will still be tracking and keeping an eye on the weather more privately, of course, my interest in that side of things is still very much alive and likely always will be! ⛈️ God speed ✈️ stay safe. Spend as much time in nature as you possibly can. Enjoy the weather, whatever it is. Thank you.

@TheSnowDreamer With the soils being drier recently that might help boost temperatures a tad, although it is wetter after recent showers with further rain to come Monday night. Things will dry up quick if it's sunny for a few days though.

25-28c seems like a realistic target area right now across a fairly large area. Regardless it’s a massive shift to 10-13C!

Strange when feeling current coolness and how massively different it could be in near future. Model output hinting at relatively intense Spanish plume scenario which entertains 30C temps later next week. Solutions like this from ECMWF are not isolated this evening - currently I put it at 20% chance.

A lot of showers around today with some containing hail and lightning!

Staying cool this week and turning showery from tomorrow for many with a more unstable airmass. However signs of something warmer & drier once again later next week. Spring 2026 will be another dry spring for the vast majority of the UK.
