See this🧵on what's going on in Türkiye right now, where Erdogan's gov is going after leading physician & human rights defender Dr Şebnem Korur Fincancı on completely bogus terrorism charges. Erdogan's really leaning into authoritarianism to silence criticism ahead of elections!

BREAKING: PHR condemns a Turkish court’s sentencing today of Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı, a leader in Türkiye’s medical & human rights community, to two years, eight months and 15 days of imprisonment on baseless charges of “making terrorist propaganda.” phr.org/news/phr-denou…

Asylum is legal immigration. There is no "port of entry" requirement. There is no "visa" requirement. There is no "first country" requirement. You enter the United States and apply for asylum. Because asylum is legal immigration. The announcement today by @DHSgov restricts 1/2

With #Title42 in the news again, here’s a great 🧵 on lots of data show how T42 is a failed policy for border management & drug enforcement. But more importantly, it’s a humanitarian catastrophe that violates US & intl law, and undermines public health authority. #EndTitle42
Adam Isacson@adam_wola

It's so perplexing that people are convinced that Title 42 slowed migration, and that its lifting will be a major change. Here's what happened to single-adult migrant encounters at the US-Mexico border after Title 42 went into effect.

BREAKING: A total of 7 peaceful climate protestors in the US are now charged with "terrorism" as police and fossil fuel industry work overtime to stifle dissent. Five charged just last week in Atlanta. Who do you think the real criminals are? axios.com/local/atlanta/…

@POTUS @USUN @UN Biggest takeaway after this win in Congress: the ball is now firmly in @POTUS's court. Pres Biden should use these tools to direct US policy on Burma that includes supporting civilian rule, sanctions against the junta, humanitarian support & a strong push for accountability [End]

@POTUS @USUN @UN And, while the final version of the BURMA Act in the NDAA is somewhat "streamlined" from the bill that passed the House in April, there's still a LOT there to express political will for accountability, provide leverage against the junta, and support the people of Myanmar.

There's a lot going on in the final days of the 117th Congress but let me highlight something you may not have noticed. Late last week, Congress passed the BURMA Act as part of this year's defense spending bill. There's a lot in there, so let's get into it:🧵
