Iceland legally guarantees equal pay for men and women, making the gender pay gap illegal.

Give me the kind of good news from around the world that nobody ever talks about... but should.

@MichaelKnightK @JLeagueShirts @tanpukunokami Original post says that it’s one worker per 100 seats?
English

In Tokyo, there's a cleaning crew that does the impossible every 12 minutes.
They're called TESSEI. They clean the Shinkansen bullet trains at Tokyo Station.
When a train arrives, it stops for 12 minutes before departing again.
Two minutes for passengers to exit.
Three more for the next batch to board.
That leaves seven.
In those seven minutes, one person must:
- Clean 100 seats
- Wipe every tray table
- Vacuum the floor
- Rotate every seat to face the new direction of travel
- Replace all headrest covers
- Check the overhead bins
- Bow to incoming passengers
Seven. Minutes.
They do this hundreds of times a day.
Harvard Business School published a case study about them.
The New York Times called it "the 7-minute miracle."
Tourists now stand on the platform just to watch.
Before they start, they bow to the train.
When they finish, they line up and bow to the passengers.
They're paid by the hour. Many are in their 50s and 60s.
Japan didn't invent cleaning.
They invented the dignity of doing small things perfectly.

@tonyngyn @JLeagueShirts @tanpukunokami If you only had one person. If you have 100 people, it's 7 minutes a chair...

@helenhairnets @GMB So do you think Laura Kerby should step down as Prostate Cancer UK CEO - Why doesn't she go and work for a women's organisation
English

@GMB Women with endometriosis are worth a LOT more than being used as validation props/tools for trans identifying men.
We are not service humans. Steph can never understand what it is like to have this condition, and it's wholly inappropriate for him to act as "spokesperson".
English

Steph Richards is a trans woman who works for the charity Endometriosis South Coast as their parliamentary engagement officer which is a voluntary role, but in the last week, she has seen a tsunami of hate directed her way.
Some women online have called her appointment deeply offensive, but Steph says this is just another excuse for transphobia.

🚨 BIOLOGICAL MAN APPOINTED TO REPRESENT WOMEN'S DISEASE CHARITY!
73-year-old biological male Steph Richards, who previously stepped down as CEO after huge backlash, has now been made parliamentary engagement officer at Endometriosis South Coast.
The charity now claims endometriosis "affects people of all genders".
An award-winning female novelist and furious sufferers have slammed the move as insulting and disgusting.
Biological men now speaking for a female-only womb condition.
ABSOLUTE MADNESS!!

@Bloomgabs @SimonHarrisMBD If you can't afford a slice of toast for your child why have you had them? Contraception is free in this country. Having children is a want not a need. There's loads of things I want but I can't afford them so I do without.
English

@dave43law @drdavidbull Perhaps you should explore how other countries across the world manage the funding for their healthcare systems; healthcare systems that are far superior to our own.
You can exclude USA from your research because that is irrelevant to the exercise.

@JoJoFromJerz @atrupar I dont recall the Pope condemning the murder of 40,000 Iranians or the systematic murder of entire Christian families in Nigeria

@UN_Women @Astro_Christina Name this woman, for example.
I have a lego model of this photo, bought it for my daughter to teach her about women in science.
She was responsable for putting men on the moon.
And UN Women has never once mentioned her.

English

🌖 Once in a blue moon, history changes forever.
This month, @Astro_Christina became the first woman to fly on a Moon mission.
On #HumanSpaceflightDay, we celebrate her and all women shaping our future beyond Earth.
Give women a seat on the spaceship 🚀

@ArielAriel20768 @ImtiazMadmood I'm afraid you have fallen foul of the "Red Herring" logical fallacy.
"a logical distraction that diverts attention from the main argument to an irrelevant issue, designed to evade difficult questions or shift the debate"
English

@MichaelKnightK @ImtiazMadmood I'm focussing on women's issues. You can take this men's issue up. I want to clarify something for myself. Does she stick a false nut sack in her knickers & pretend she is a man with prostate issues?

@PelletMarshy @that_stocks_guy So you can save enough earning £100,000–£104,000 to retire at 50 - impressive

@Davyjrob67 Had a similar conversation with family in the outer Hebrides. They’ve had loads of cancellations due to the ‘uncertainty’ of sailings. It’s all down to the Yoon media.
English

A conversation with a man:
Me: All men
Him: not all men
Me: okay. You have a daughter, right? Would you be comfortable with her going to a party with a bunch of other girls, with no boys present?
Him: yes (without hesitation)
Me: cool. Would you be comfortable with her going to a party with a bunch of boys, with no girls present.
Him: no (without hesitation)
Me: why?
Him: Cause there will be at least 2-3 boys who are a problem. ---

Dear TechToby,
We’ve got a 40 foot yacht based in the Ionian. Get out twice a year to enjoy the sun and Mediterranean diet.
We’ve also got a 3 bedroom [modest by boomer standards] house with a nice garden where we grow vegetables and fruits.
The reason we have these privileges is because we worked darned hard all our working lives in order to achieve them.
I was born in a Council house in what was once dubbed the worst Council estate in Europe.
My other half similar but in a Corporation house where if your parents lost their job, you lost your house.
We both started full time work at 15 years old. Neither of us has ever claimed benefits other than I took maternity leave which wasn’t paid for by my employer [you just had to make ends meet] and the most help I got was £25 maternity pay cheque.
Our children were instilled with the ethos that you make your own way in the world and your outcome is determined by the amount of effort you put in.
We don’t owe our children anything. We brought them up well through sweat and tears.
Our enjoyment of our current lifestyle is payback for our own efforts. Not theirs.
And now we think we might go SKIng, Spending the Kids Inheritance, because it’s ours!
Selfish? No, we inherited nothing from our parents. It is NOT a right of passage!
TechToby@techtoby__
Majority of all the 4, 5 and 6 bedroom homes in my area are all occupied by boomers. They spend all day from Spring to Autumn gardening. Some of them can barely bend down. I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t just sell up. Instead they complain about being unable to heat the property. Any time a home comes up for sale, it’s because someone has died. Then a lot of people don’t even want to buy them because they’ve not been decorated since 1985 and have no bath.

@gooduse63856452 @MonarchoHoppean @DrewPavlou So you are okay with what the Japanese did during WW2 because "it was war"?
English

@MonarchoHoppean @DrewPavlou Easy, it was war, who cares?
English

The Australian government just arrested our most decorated veteran from the Afghanistan War for alleged war crimes.
Ben Roberts-Smith was awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia after singlehandedly storming two Taliban machine gun positions by himself in order to save his own SAS team.
And this is how we repay him.
I spoke to an Australian Afghan war veteran who told me that the Australian government literally paid for billboards in Afghanistan offering to pay random Afghans to come forward with war crime allegations. What country on Earth would do this to itself?
Tell me: When does the Taliban plan on holding war crimes tribunals into their own people? When do the Taliban plan on holding themselves accountable for terrorism?
Absolutely retarded to purge your own men when fighting a brutal barbaric enemy that respects no rules whatsoever.
We are a cucked nation.
Free Ben Roberts-Smith.

@FFo7896 @ukboomers With all these reform voters you can't be too careful
English

The other day we were on a cruise and our grandson rang asking for a bit of money. He's just started at the NHS full time, earns £28,000 a year. That's what we paid for our house. I said love, if you're earning a whole house a year and still struggling, that's not a money problem, that's a discipline problem. I'd help but I'm afraid of spoiling the boy.
Our neighbour David was a doctor for 35 years, never complained once. Five rental properties now. Lovely man. I just hope the boy sorts his finances out. If we keep bailing them out they'll never learn
English

@ukboomers Average house price Vs wage ratio was between 3x in the 80s to 7.5x now, so no, remove the effect of inflation and salaries haven't increased "quite a bit".
Not in disagreement about pensions. But that wasn't the topic.
English

@MichaelKnightK In our day we had 15% interest rates and survived. Salaries have gone up quite a bit since then. Our gardener charges us £1,100 a month. How are a couple of pensioners supposed to afford that on a fixed income? But nobody talks about our struggles.
